Frustrating turn signal

OK, maybe someone can offer suggestions...

Over the weekend I hard-wired my GPS in to the 12-volt fairing outlet.
Popped the outer fairing off and tapped into the outlet from the inside.

The GPS works fine.

Get it all buttoned back up and the right front turn signal doesn't work. The running light works, just no blinking action.
Replaced the bulb - same problem.
Swapped with the left bulb - same problem.
Replaced the entire bulb socket - same problem.

Also, the right rear signal blinks, but at a faster rate than the left rear. WTF?

I didn't do anything with the front signals, other than take them loose to remove the fairing.

I concur on the pinched wire. Most likely where it comes out between the two fairing halves.

That's the first place I'd look and you can do that without splitting the fairing, just pull the two nuts off the turn signal and pull it out far enough to trace the wire. Make sure it is in the slot, and not pinched.

Thanks guys.
Wiring from the turn signal to the connector - nothing pinched. I'm usually extra careful to ensure the harness is properly seated when putting the signals back on.
Took the fairing back off to check my wiring for the GPS - all OK.
Swapped the turn signal assemblies, right to left, and the problem moved to the left side.
OK, the problem is in the assembly between the connector and the bulb.
Already swapped bulbs.
Earlier today I replaced the entire right socket assembly (68904-00).

Time for a break...

Back to the garage. Discovered that the two contact points inside the socket weren't sitting flush. Hard to describe, but sorta bound on the spring. Monkeyed around with it and now it works.

Put it all back together - still works.
Rode around the 'hood - still works.
Put a few miles on... still workin', so I'm calling it fixed.

I wonder how much the dealer would have charged you to trouble shoot this the way you did? Hell, they'd most likely still be mucking with it and telling you that the main harness needs replacement. Good job searching it out.

I know this thread is old but I just had this problem. I had the turn signals off getting things powder coated and when I put the signals back on the left turn signal worked but no running light, right side was fine. I switched bulbs from the right side. The right side still works fine but the left running light still doesnt work. After reading this thread about the contacts I went out looked at both left and right side contacts and dnoticed there is a channel the contacts are supposed to be in. I got a jeweler screwdriver and pushed the contact back in that channel and all is good. Thanks.
