Looked like a guppy trying to imitate a SHARK. LOL

Was in Ft. Worth yesterday visiting some family and stopped in their local H-D dealer and this was parked outsaide. Actually these kits to convert V-Rods have been out of several years now. I just havent seen one in a few years and though I would snap a pic and have some fun.

I once thought about doing a Road Rod, they handle good, and don't get as hot, I haven't seen one yet that I liked the rear end though. It might be a clue of what will be if HD ever goes liquid cooled, I hope they give it more low end torque if they do.

I like it

I think those look okay. Quick as hell to. I am just to lazy to get off my bike every time it gets hungry. Porsche designed power plant. Water cooled. Space frame aluminum hand built frame. Glad I don't have to buy one.

I was leaning toward a road rod before buying the RGU earlier this year. If done right they look very well! I liked the way this one came out (on 1300cc forums)

These kits have actually been around for quit some time. IIRC the V-Rod came out in 2001 and I think it was Arlen Ness who came out with a kit on 2003 or 4 for the V-Glide. I used to see them all the time at bikeshows and Rallys but I guess then kind of fizzled out. This one that I took a pic of yesterday was the first one I had seen in 5 or 6 years. It was funny though because every year people used to use this bike as an example for things to come from Mother Harley. Heck maybe its a good thing it never happened.

Having been a VTX rider since 2003, I had considered building one of these. I thought the VTX wore the sharknose very well. This is an example from a member of the VTXOA. 110cis, liquid cooled, and a butt load of torque. It was a fun bike, but I sure do love my RGU.
I've seen this one before - it does look very nice! The VTX is a great bike in its own right.

I like the VRod all on its own. I'm not digging the Road Rod. just looks like a lot of other bikes that aren't meant to be baggers get the bagger makeover and it just doesn't flow. I use to have a VTX1800 Neo, that I made into a bagger and while it looked really good, it still didn't have that seamless bagger look as a genuine bagger of the line. I do however really dig that VTX a few post up with the fixed fairing.

I have a Stratoliner (big twin Yamaha cruiser) I thought about mounting a RG fairing on after seeing pics of some conversions. One made the July '10 edition of V-Twin magazine, was called a "GlideLiner."

So off I went to take a real close look at what I was going to copy when I was "Shark bitten". Now I have the real thing & like glide69 said, no regrets.

Here's a link to one of the bikes that made me start thinking Shark fairing. Its actually a Roadliner with a RG fairing.

I did a lot of analysis and research about mounting a Shark fairing when I had my Road Star a few years. Ultimately decided to go all-in instead of going the wanna-be route and have never regretted the decision; though I would have liked to have been able to keep that big long R* with its huge neck snapping torque.

I agree with everyone else that said they never own a wannabe. To me it's just like building a kit car. You can build whatever you want but it never really be a ROAD GLIDE. And like I told my other buddies. Even tho this doesn't pertain to the v-rod, I think it's funny how all the other manufacturers claim they want to be nothing like Harley, yet they try to design their bikes to feel, sound, and look just like them!
