Gonna be 106 today. Still haven't decided how I'm getting to work.
Ride or drive? The Explorer has a/c in the seats and a kickin' stereo. But the Shark, well, 'nuff said there.
If you can handle it safely without any heat related incidents, I say ride, that way people will say to themselves when they see you riding, "that guy is nuts or that guy is hardcore."
Well it really wasn't much of a decision I guess. I rode. Since my kids are young I have to take advantages of riding opportunities whenever I can.
What really tipped the scales is that when my ex, who is totally incapable of managing her time, calls me this afternoon to ask me to pick up the kids I can just say sorry, I'm on the bike. She hates that!!
When I get home tonight I'll just spray myself down with the water hose outside before I go in.
Oh yea, only saw 5 other riders this morning. No sharks.
What's your ride to work? I have ridden to work every day since June 25 (24 miles each way). Nice in the morning, hot as balls in the afternoon but hey, HOV north of 635!
And my RGU is the almost same color as my wife's Edge!
Guess I'm a wimp. I'm just south of Dallas and it's just too dang hot. The ride in the morning is great, but anything more than about 30 minutes in the afternoon will fry you. I do applaud your effort in riding. Think I'll try riding when it dips back under 100 later this week.
That happened to me last summer. (one lung thumper) then i had cams installed, dyno and Jagg Fan Assisted Oil Cooler and I never get over 220 degrees. and that was on the way home from work with 106 temp and 113 heat index. On 100 degree days and solo runs at 195-200 temp.
My car doesn't have ac so I ride the bike if it isn't raining...its cooler than the car on those hot days.
