Have we reached equilibrium?

I have been blessed to be able to ride the last four days. Each day I have seen about equal numbers of Sharks and Bats Wings. Perhaps the Road Glide is starting to get the love it deserves?:D

Street Glides and Electras still hold a vast majority here in S. Florida, from what I see both on the road and at the dealer, I see more RGs at the dealer than on the road.

We are still outnumbered 20 to 1 at least here in Illinois. I told my wife (joking) that I needed to trade bikes and get some leather so I would fit in. She told me I have never fit in before. No reason to start now.

Don't think we are anywhere near equal in Maine yet. That being said ,there is a lot more on the road. I used to see only a couple a week or so when I got mine in 2008. Now I'll see 3 on the ride home from work. If I meet or see a group, there will always be 2,3,4 Sharks in the bunch. I have noticed that there are a lot of 2015's on the road here and in New England. Saw a lot of 15's in and around Laconia last month. The new design may be persuading a few Batwing ppl to switch as they trade out.

The #s are going to be in the Bat Wings favor as long as there are more models with Bat Wing fairings to choose from than models with Shark Nose fairings. For a few years, there was the Electra Glide Classic, which had no direct competition, & even when the MoCo made the RG Ultra, the Electra Glides still had the Limited with a few more toys on it for those who like those things.

If we compare RGs to SGs in 2015, the RGs are priced higher than the SGs when in the past, they were the same price. Right now, the RGs are "Hot Rod Baggers" & while Street Glides are too, there are Ultras and Limiteds with Bat Wing fairings for those who want to do serious touring. For one reason or another, the MoCo seems to be pushing the Bat Wings more than the Shark Nose. So, as we ride down the road, we're bound to see more Bat Wings than Sharks.

I hope we stay outnumbered! I bought my first RG (2009) to be different from all the batwings. I see a lot more sharks now, but we are still the minority.

There has always been more sheep than wolves, I would rather be a wolf and howl than a sheep and be just one of the flock following blindly waiting for shearing or slaughter.

Same here in NH...

I rode four days straight all around the Seacoast, NH and down-east, Maine areas and groups of Harley riders encountered where there were multiple types of Harley models had the Road Glide not only even with but oftentimes beating out the Bat Wings!

The exception was the occasional group where every bike in the group were ALL Bat Wings... like Lemmings!

HA!!

The Street glide is still more popular here,i was asked the other day by a Street glide rider why i liked the RG over a SG,instead of telling him all the reasons i just smiled and said, there are only so many seats on the cool bus, everybody else rides a SG,dont think he liked my humor.:cool::cool::cool::cool:

No where close in my neck of the woods and i hope it stays that way. Easier to spot in parking lots.

At best the Road Glide models have accounted for 8-9% of Harley Davidson sales compared to 40-42% for the entire Touring line (info gathered from press releases and HD financial reports). That means the other 31-34% is divided between the Road King and the Batwing models...Street Glide, Ultra Classic & Ultra Low and Limited & Limited Low. Equilibrium between Bats and Sharks would be a long way off.

Nowhere near equilibrium . It's like the car you always wanted , that you never saw around town , after you got one , it seemed they were everywhere .

Back in the 80's and 90's , ( I have the numbers somewhere , and posted it here way back in time ) there were something like 4 to 1 bats to sharks total production numbers , some years there were only a few hundred sharks produced ..

I see an extreme minimum amount of sharks around my neck of the woods.

Had never seen another in Amber Whiskey until the last few weeks and now I seem to be crossing paths with the guy everywhere I go.
