I plan on removing my Tour Pak and need someplace to mount the plate. I don't care if it's over or under the brake light, and I'd prefer something curved if below, or laid back if above.

The quick detach kit comes with a bracket that mounts behind the taillight. It's pretty flimsy, next time I'm over at my buddy's I'm gonna pop it in the vice and try and lay it back some. I've done some searching, aside from drilling into the fender, there aren't any other options for below

Those are butt-ugly. I was hoping for something better looking.

If you find anything that doesn't require drilling, lemme know. I spent a few hours at the firehouse one night and everything was either designed for the light bar or needed to be drilled. I have a cheap lay down one that I used on my stratoliner deluxe, but it needs holes. As much as I don't like the tower that came in the kit, I just can't bring myself to drill into my fender yet...

I'm thinking you could have an airbrush guy duplicate the plate on the back of your old lady/girlfriend's helmet. You could even incorporate a white LED plate light. If that's not going to work, then I'd suggest you wait another 60 days before you do anything. It happens to a lot of us. You shell out the big bucks for the removable TP brackets and you "intend" to use the TP only for trips, but you get hooked on the overall convenience of it before you get around to taking it off and then you never do. Don't ask me how I know.

The other plus is that it gives mama a way to take 4 more pair of shoes when you take off for a weekend trip! Happy wife, happy life.

Sound advice for someone new to riding a bike with a Tour Pak. I've had one for 6 years, and on the bikes I've had with detachables, they've been detached all the time when riding solo.

The wife (who will cut you for calling her an "old lady") gets the Tour Pak as both a backrest and for storage of her underthings. I have no issue with either need.

LOL. Knowing you're highly unlikely to have a TP on your Night Train or KLR, I made a bad assumption that you might not have had any 'sperience with them at all.

Kuryakin probably the most likely to be the first ones on the block to have something like that. Good luck in your search.

Here's my solution. Kuryakyn plate kit 9255. It comes with a built in license plate light. You do have to drill four holes in your fender, but it's never coming off, so that didn't bother me. Replace the tail lamp lens with one off of a Road King, no clear window. Turn signals are Custom Dynamics...

Edit: It won't let me upload the same pics twice. Go here to see the pictures, post #22
