Harley dealer called

Got phone call from Harley dealer I bought my current bike from. Says they can put me on a new ride and keep me at the same payment I had or maybe even less! Cool! Told the dude it took me 3 years and thousands of dollars on top of a 28k bike to get it to where it was comfortable and get the suspension to work where it mostly stayed in the same lane in a curve. And I told him I was not interested in getting a bike with the dreaded oil transfer issue. He says do wha? He said they don’t leak, not sure what I’m talking about. Told him I was good with what I had🤣🤣💵💵

I'm with you Fast Jack, I'd be all over that program.

One of the few good things about getting to a certain age is that with hard work and a little bit of luck you've finally arrived at a point where you can pay cash for a bike. I also think that at our age you've got enough experience in the saddle to know how to fix any ergonomic issues with the bike so you save a lot of 'parts swapping' expense. Then after 4-5 years you've come to like the ol' girl and you decide she's a keeper .... and you ride together for many years .... until one of you has had his last ride. That's what I see in my day dreams sometimes. (Pifffff, and the OL says I'm not a romantic!)

Dealer salesmen/women are not Harley people. If they were, they would know many of us would really value the high-price motorcycle we have worked hard to get and worked hard to modify to our individual tastes. And we are invested in the years and miles as those roll over, it's kinda like a relationship.

I kept a 1985 for 27 years and 90,000 miles, I've fixed and made reliable a 1980 over 11 years and 35,000 miles and that's going nowhere, and this 2019 FLTRX I just bought will be my last motorcycle (OK, maybe an ironhead project awaits...). I can't imagine being interested in another new Harley. No joke. From 1992 to 2016 I never stepped into a dealership and looked at a motorcycle longingly. And then the M8 RG arrived....

Yeah, I am happy to report I am a salesperson's worst nightmare. heh heh heh.......

Don't you love it when it becomes obvious that the (Choose one: Salesman, Service Writer, Service Manager, Tech, or owner) doesn't have a clue about certain well known faults/defects and they hide their ignorance by just saying that what you heard isn't true.

Ask him what a payment is? It's their job to sell , bikes ,cars, boat camper ect. Some will buy many will not.

Oh, many of them know. It is their job not to admit knowing. I could never be a salesman. I'd be like Red Foreman and tell the dumbass that he can't afford a new bike and that we have some nice used streets and 883s within his price range.

I always ask what Harley they own. Most will give you a story of " I'm going to buy xxx". They don't even have one, how can they know anything?
