Rushmore Headlight weirdness

I don’t ride much at night, but was out The other night, and noticed something changed. Prior to this, both my high and low beams would both light up, now if the high’s are turned on the lows shut off.

What the hell could have happened??

Only think I can think that I added over the winter is the smart security, that required the ECM to be reflashd to program the fobs. - Could this have messed something up with my headlight???

Have to say, this issue seriously reduces your vision at night when flipping on the highs.

Any thoughts?

Could be that dealer flash they did. If you haven't noticed it before then may be hard to prove that's it. Pull the headlights, get a meter or test light and start checking to see if it was the flash that did it or the lights themselves.

Update:

They flashed my bike for a street glide rather than a road glide when they programmed the security. It took all of 2 min to fix it.

Funny thing is, I called the local dealer that did the original flash, and they told me I was crazy, and that it’s illegal to run the high and low at the same time.

So I took it to Z&M Harley in Greensburg, PA (Great people there) and they had it fixed in record time. Didn’t even charge me! Kinda restores my faith in some dealers.

Glad you got it figured out. My buddy bought an 18 and our first night ride we found out he only had hi or low beams never both. Not sure why a brand new bike would have been flashed wrong but he had them fix it with his first service.

I'd go back to that original dealer, drag the service people out in the showroom and turn the brights on every Shark in the place. Sounds like a place I wouldn't let change the air in my tires.

^ there. Some places just don't want to admit to their mistakes and will say whatever BS comes to mind to deflect blame.

Glad you found another trust worthy dealer to fix it. Looks like they gained another customer.

Great to hear about a positive HD dealer experience, there far and few between at times. I know which dealer I wouldn't be going back to ......
