Put 2000 miles on the Glide last week

Took off June 1st on a roadtrip with one of my riding buddies and my son. My son doesn't have his own bike, only has his learners permit, so he rode with me. We left jacksonville, FL and headed to Jackson Mississippi where we stopped for the night. Sunday morning we jumped on the "Natchez Trace Parkway", we rode till we got to Tupelow, Mississippi where we stayed for the night. The next day we got back on the parkway and rode it to the end in Nashville tennessee. From there we headed to Lynchburg TN to stop for the night. After that headed to Maggie valley,NC arriving Tuesday early evening and stayed there until Thursday morning, getting a little bit of riding in while in Maggie. Thursday morning we were going to continue into Mount Airy,NC but due to the forecast for the rest of the week we decided to just head for home, getting back in Jacksonville,FL about 8:30 Thursday evening.
all in all it was a pretty good trip, saw very little rain and got to spend some quality time with my 16 year old son. It was his first bike trip and he really enjoyed it.

Wow, and the running joke forever was that you never rode out of state. The KVRF would be proud. Seriously, what a great way to bond with your son. He will remember this forever and the locations are great places to ride and see. Well done, sir.

Sounds like a wonderful trip, especially since you got to do it with your son and a buddy. Good for you to make the time to do that with your son.

PS: You gotta keep a hairbrush in your glove compartment and remember to get the beard brushed out before taking pics. Don't ask me how I know. I've looked in the rear view mirror and frightened myself more than once!

LOL...Zinc they still rag me about not being able to cross the state line. Even my trip from Florida to Sturgis SD in 2011 didn't get them off my back
Yeah, I was glad my son went. If he keeps with his current plan he will be joining the military after high school (he goes into his 3rd year of ROTC this coming school year) so We've only got a couple more years of him being home with us.

Sounds like a fantastic route and having your son along was "icing on the cake"! The kind of memories that make life great. Kudos to you and tell your son that this "self-proclaimed old fart" thanks him in advance for what he's preparing to do with his life. Sounds like you raised him well !

Thanks Jack. Yeah he's a good kid. He's never got in any serious trouble, He's earned his second degree black belt and as I mentioned going into 3rd year of ROTC. His grades could be better but thats the only complaint I could possibly have with him.
