What in the world? A horrific crash. Prayers to those and their families.

I just read about this accident on line and I almost puked. Damn, 7 riders dead at the scene and three others hospitalized. They must have been riding in a tight group and the 3/4 ton pick up which looks like it was towing a flat bed car/equipment trailer crossed the center line and mowed them down like bowling pins. Very little info available at the moment about who they were or where they were from. For any of you that attended SW4, the accident took place not more than 15 miles from our host hotel. If you went left out of the parking lot headed towards town, the first traffic light is Rte. 2. If you took a left there (headed towards Mt. Washington and many other NH attractions) it was probably 10-15 miles west on Rte.2 That road is very well maintained and smooth and much of it is 3 lane with a double lane on whatever side is going uphill. Looks like the accident happened on a 2 lane stretch. Something caused the driver to cross the center line and run head-on into the group of riders. Such a freakin' shame. May they RIP who ever they are.

This is very sad and horrific to read about. Seeing this in person would bring back memories of Iraq I am sure.
I hope what happened will be hard to determine. I've only read one article so far so what happened to the driver of the truck? I understand his truck was on fire but was he also killed?

Saw a blurb on FOX about an hour ago. Prayers for all the families and friends that will be affected by this senseless tragedy.

23 years old driving what appears to be a company truck towing a goose neck trailer. It will be interesting to hear the what's and why's of what happened.

Even if the young man isn't at fault he will have to live with this for the rest of his life which is something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Here's an update though still no IDs yet. This article refers to the truck running into a group of 10 motorcycles - doesn't say whether all 10 were involved or not. Clearly in a couple pics there was a black bat wing on it's stand in the middle of the debris field. It didn't look like it was involved/damaged. It also appears that 5 members of this Marine MC and two wives/GFs were killed.

3/4 ton Dodge pickup towing an empty goose neck flat bed trailer that looked to be 32+ feet. The type a general contractor or landscaping contractor might have. It's Friday evening at 6:30. Perhaps he hung out at the work site and drank a few beers on a Friday late afternoon. Or perhaps he was very tired at the end of a long week and fell asleep at the wheel, .... or was texting or talking on his phone and was distracted for a minute. Or perhaps something in his front end suspension broke. He was headed west if I remember correctly so perhaps he was blinded by the sinking evening sun. We'll eventually know but it won't really matter by then. The worst part of this is that from every indication, they just had no chance at all. They left their lodging to head into Gorham for a charity event at the American Legion Post. Several minutes later they're all mowed down. Damn that's sad.

UPDATE

Hopefully no one on here knew the individuals involved, but I'll list them here just in case. The NH State Police released the names of the 7 motorcyclists who died on Friday in a horrific crash with a trailer towing pick-up truck. Four were from NH, one from MA and one from RI.

The victims were identified as:

Michael Ferazzi, 62, of Contoocook;

Albert Mazza, 59, of Lee;

Daniel Pereira, 58, of Riverside, R.I.;

Jo-Ann and Edward Corr, both 58, of Lakeville, Mass.;

Desma Oakes, 42, of Concord;

and Aaron Perry, 45, of Farmington.

All five men killed in the crash were members of the Jarheads Motorcycle Club, a club for Marines and Fleet Marine Force Navy Corpsmen. Oakes and Joanne Corr were “supporters” of the club, Young said.

In addition, there were three cyclists who were injured, two were treated and have been released from the hospital. Joshua Morin, 45, of Dalton, Mass., remains in stable condition at Maine Medical Center. Steven Lewis, 58, of Brimfield, Mass., was treated and released from an area hospital, Young said. No word on the ID of the third person.

UPDATE:

This piece of shit was arrested on 7 counts of negligent homicide. He was found guilty of DUI in 2013, and again just last month. They haven't said yet whether he was drunk on Friday night but everything you read points in that direction.

Also, when the Mass. State Police went to his home today to pick him up they found several empty heroin packets in his room:

"Packets believed to contain heroin residue were found in the Springfield, Mass., residence of the driver charged with negligent homicide for the death of seven motorcyclists in Randolph, according to Massachusetts State Police.

State police discovered wax packets with the residue when the Fugitive Apprehension Unit went to the home of Volodymyr Zhukovskyy, 23, of 90 Newbridge St., authorities said. Zhukovskyy has been charged with seven counts of negligent homicide for the seven deaths."

To me, there are no charges or sentence substantial enough to compensate for what he did in snuffing out the lives of 7 innocent people who were on their way to an American Legion charity event in nearby Gorham, NH. I can only hope that he gets assigned to a prison cell block where there are several 1%-ers doing time, and that they 'tune him up' within an inch of his miserable worthless life .... and then do it again when he recovers.

I'm guessing they're waiting for blood tests results from the lab. I think they know he was under the influence of something but just need the lab results as proof. I'm glad to see they've charged him with something that could put him away for a few years, but probably not as many as should be.
