Laconia Bike Week just ended this past Sunday so the chance are pretty good that it's a group of friends who were there for the tail end of bike week and then this week were riding many of the fabulous roads that that area has to offer. Judging by the pics, it looks like there were at least 7 bikes with one maybe not involved. Riding along minding their own business, on their side of the road and "BANG", just that quickly, 7 of them had their lives snuffed out. As I said on the other thread, I hope the driver of the truck spends the rest of his life in prison.

While very very tragic and my heart goes out to everyone involved but why would you say that you hope the driver of the truck needs to spend the rest of his life in prison when they don’t know the cause or how it happened. Who knows maybe he suffered a medical condition or something failed on the truck. If he was drunk or high or doing something that was a break in the law then he’ll ya. Maybe it would be wise to know the true facts about this before you start blabbing moronic things. That’s a pretty harsh statement without knowing the truth.

The group of bikers were from the Jarheads MC club which comprises former Marine Corp Servicemen. It's a NH club and from some of the articles online it was mentioned the truck was going the wrong direction on RTE 2 which is a great road I've ridden many times while living in NH. Heres one of many links to the accident and NTSB is currently investigating.

Wife and I were just watching this on the news. Very Tragic. Our hearts go out to all the riders and to the families and friends of those who died.

The only explanation I have seen in print so far is:

“There was a pickup truck with a flatbed trailer heading west and he crossed the yellow line and tried to swerve back and his trailer jackknifed and wiped out [the] people on the motorcycles,” said Jerry Hamanne, who owns The Inn at Bowman nearby.

Coos County Attorney John McCormick called it “a very complex accident scene.”

There’s two threads on this tragedy. Without a doubt we all on here were affected by this, I couldn’t stop thinking about this all yesterday & woke up thinking about it. As I said on other thread it’s so easy to hate on the driver & I’m sickened by the whole thing but we don’t know the whole story yet. All we know is the driver was a young man a like Fuzzy said the chances of it being a medical issue is slim, it could’ve been a lot of things like texting, drinking, mechanical issues etc. & time will tell. No matter what this will be hard to live with for this young man so my heart goes out to everyone involved, their families & friends.

When the Mass. Sate Police went to pick him up to take him to court they found several used heroin packets in his room:

"Packets believed to contain heroin residue were found in the Springfield, Mass., residence of the driver charged with negligent homicide for the death of seven motorcyclists in Randolph, according to Massachusetts State Police. State police discovered wax packets with the residue when the Fugitive Apprehension Unit went to the home of Volodymyr Zhukovskyy, 23, of 90 Newbridge St., authorities said. Zhukovskyy has been charged with seven counts of negligent homicide for the seven deaths."

In addition, he was charged with DUI in 2013 and again just last month. They haven't yet said whether he was drunk or high on Friday but all the signs point to that. Worthless excuse of a human being. And how is it that his employer continued to allow him to drive commercially after 2 DUI arrests? The whole thing makes me want to puke.

Words cannot describe..... Imagine your crew-gone. My heart ways heavy for all those families, God bless and allow them the strength to get through this tragic horror. I was on a Florida ride from the 14th-22nd. left Bradenton Fla @ 5 a.m. got home north of Philly @ 130 a.m. 1144 miles in 1 day. The last 3 hrs of the ride up 95-from-hell I was praying to God to get me home, I should NOT have been out there at that time of night. I saw this tragedy on the news Sunday, I got real lucky for being so stupid. Control what you can, trust your gut, and think about your families. All those people out there are the bullet in the chamber, do not give them an excuse/chance to draw your card, Please. Ride safely my brothers and lets not forget those we have lost. Ride-on...Dang.

The line forms behind me! He's 23 and I'm almost 68 so he'd kick my ass in a fair fight, but I'd have no intention of it being a fair fight!

This whole case is beyond sad - just think of it that this club have combat veterans. They have given so much, sacrificed so much for their country only to have some punk-ass-dope-head-p.o.s. run them over back home...

You're right on the money with that. From what I've read, the "Jar Heads M/C" is not for all veterans, it's for COMBAT veterans only. That's a very special group with very special dynamics. May they rest in peace.

Check out the UPDATE on Pg.4 of the "New Hampshire" thread on this issue. It now appears that he may be here illegally or has some other ICE issue. The story gets more horrific every day.
