Navigation App -- offline maps & GPX imports

I am looking for an i-phone navigation app. It must have offline maps and import GPX routes.

I will be traveling abroad in the coming months. I am renting a SG without a nav system while there.
(When they said they don't have a Road Glide, I should have kept looking, but that's a different thread).

I want to plan my routes with Ride Planner, or equivalent desktop application, and download the GPX files onto a phone app that supports offline maps (I don't want to pay for international data!)

I have't tried Sygic Has anyone used it? Does it import GPX routes and does it route them well?

When I tried to send routes to Google maps, it changed the order of the waypoints. I think it is optimized for delivery trucks. That IS CLEARLY NOT what I am looking for.
I also am a dedicated Waze user in my car, that also does not import GPX files and does not work offline, so it is of no use to me.. I also don't want to plan routes on my phone.

Is there another phone app anyone can recommend that supports offline maps and importing GPX routes easily.
I will only be riding there for 3 days, I don't want to blow a couple hundred bucks on a Garmin.

I plan my rides based on the day I leave and the day I head home, everything in between is flexable.

That's a good strategy for most days and one that I mimic for about 80% of my ridding. But, I'll only be riding in Ireland for 3 days. The country has some beautiful scenery that I don't want to miss because I took the wrong turn.

I use RoadRUNNER Rides app and really like it. Available in the App store by the month or year. You can plan a route on your phone with unlimited points of interest, meaning you pick the roads you want to travel. Really easy to use but a little putsy until you learn your way around the functions. Or, do it on the computer (my old eyes) and it automatically transfers to your phone. I've tried this using Google Maps, but when I send it to my phone, Google reroutes it and I loose the roads I've picked. Google also limits the number of poi.
Also included in the app are the tours highlighted in the magazine and routes other users have shared (public tours). These can be a bit overwhelming to sort through though, as they are not always clearly labeled. The app can also lay down a track to record your ride. And it uses the phones gps so no data needed to travel a route. I'm old enough to be easily amazed/overwhelmed by technology, but this app is pretty user friendly and has a lot of features.

One thing you might want to try, when you get to your hotel logon to the local wifi after putting in airplane mode (so as not to get any data charges), go to google maps and download the biggest local map you can for your area, you can download more than one if need be.
You will find that you can use your google map to map routes without needing a data package when away from wifi. Just use the option to avoid highways, it may not be as good being able to map the route you would like but at least you can get lost and still use the map to get to your destination/hotel
This method DOES work, I use it all the time when travelling to foreign countries where I do not have a data package.

Do you have an iPhone? I used to have a FatBoy and used the "Scenic" app. It was great! I still have it on my phone (Ijoined as a lifetime member). I was looking for an app that allowed me to build my own customized routes, download them to the app and then follow them with no cellular connection. Scenic is actually based in Europe and you can download maps from all over so you don't need to pay for cellular data. You do need to pay for the maps...nominal fee...but you might get a few for free.MotoMappers is their website. You get most of the features for free but I use a Sena headset and like the turn by turn directions spoken to me and that requires a paid membership. I. was only $10/year. They are planning to come out with an Android App...but not sure if they released it yet. I HIGHLY recommend the app. Logged 15K miles with the app in 2 years. worked GREAT on an IPHONE...just make sure you have a power source cause it will use a lot of juice and kill you phone battery
