God Speed Jessi Combs

We lost one of the finest women in motorsports this week. Jessi Combs died while attempting a (4 wheeled) world land speed record for women on the dry lakes of Oregon. You probably know her best from her role on Chip Foose"s "Overhaulin". She wasn't just another pretty face on that show or others she was on, she was a mechanic, a fabricater, driver, and much more. They say that at the time of her crash she was definitely going at a speed that made her the fastest women on earth. She had hit 398 mph in 2013 and her goal this week was to hit 619 when something went very wrong with the jet driven car.

Jessi also could ride the snot out of any motorcycle she ever sat on. God Speed, Jessi Combs, the world of motorsports will miss you.

At least she went out doing something she loved. She was in the process of setting a new women's world land speed record when her life came to an end. I feel compelled to cut and paste my signature in this post. It seems so appropriate as she was living Hunter S. Thompson's motto:

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” - HST
