Anyone else out there ride with their kids? My almost 8yo son and I rode a little over 200 miles this morning, almost all back roads, through a state park, and up onto the blue ridge parkway. I actually have 3 children, girls 13 & 10 and my son who will be 8 in November. All are ATGATT and I have added the Kuryakan adjustable passenger pegs to make sure they get good contact with their feet. Typically we do shorter rides around town, rides to school, etc...this was the longest ride by far that any of them have taken. We have communicators to keep in contact, so I can instruct them on riding position and they can let me know if they need a break...or just so we can chat about what we’re seeing. Just wondering if anyone else out there is taking their kids along on longer rides?
Children rode with us. Now grandchildren ride with us. We do out best to be smart about it. Life in general is a risk. One we feel is worth it with them riding.
Great looking young man and future Harley enthusiast right there!
I have in the past but they are all grown and gone now! It looks like you've gone the extra steps to make sure they are comfortable and more importantly understand THEIR responsibilities on the ride. No greater memories there! Those pics brought back quite a few memories of my own. Nothing more than what you cited... about 100 miles or so. I plan to get the grandkids up on two wheels soon and will go about it the same way that you did.
I sat my daughter on the tank of my Ninja when she was 4 or 5. Had her on the back of the Night Train all the time starting when she was 10. She's been on every one of my bikes since. She's 24 now, and still wants to go riding with me when she visits.
Both kids ride with me, they grew up riding dirt bikes and quads. Son now has his own sportster, daughter and i took a 4 day 2k trip over the summer before she headed of to college.
My grandson and I scooted around the neighborhood yesterday. He is a 3rd grader. He loved it when we blasted through this short tunnel under a rail road track. Fast and Loud!
Payton has not ridden the black one for some time. I had removed the mounts we built and used them to get a friend going. Of course she has been riding the gold one. So today I put the black one all back together while she was at school and picked her up with it. She was happy to ride in it again.
Obviously the Pic is a Joke, at that time he was only 8 days old!
When he can reach the footpegs and is several years older; I’m sure he will tag along!
Obviously the Pic is a Joke, and at time of posting this he is a little bit older (2 Months)

here's a picture of my youngest son getting ready for his first ride. I think he was 6 or 7 in this picture (he's 16 now). I waited until he was able to reach the floorboards before i started taking him on rides.
This is an old pic, but the first time my daughter rode on a motorcycle. She has special needs, & the sound used to scare her. Convinced her to get on so I could take her picture & then gradually talked her into going for a ride. Created a monster. Now we ride around the area & she waves at EVERYONE, & it is mandatory that we listen to “Free” from Zac Brown Band while riding
My 10 year old granddaughter on the scoot yesterday headed to the movies (one of them eat-in theaters, about 1hr ride) Oma followed in the car with the other granddaughter. They switched places for the ride back.
I haven’t done any extended rides with the kids but do try to get at least a local ride in weekly with the kids on a rotation schedule. When the issue of who’s turn it was came up and we couldn’t remember, I came up with a solution. My wife was less enthusiastic about it than the three of us. She thought “ oh great, a sure run in with the cops is a given” (which I am always up for to her dismay). Anyway, we never got hassled and have continued to ride this way occasionally now with no resistance on the homefront. I think that the legal approach is that the rider has to have a foot rest which they both do due to the “highway pegs” that are in place for my wife. Thought you guys might get a kick out of it, I haven’t witnessed anyone else trying it myself.
I also like the color and I have always been a big fan of that style wheels.
Once again Welcome.
Post up some more pictures of your sled brother.
