Gas cap hard to turn

I have a 2019 FLTRU. The gas cap is a bear to get off. I do not crank it down when I screw it back on. I turn it until it clicks once. Anybody else have this problem? It seems to be worse when the tank is closer to empty.

This was an issue in 16. Theres a lip that shouldn't be there I took mine off with a file. Worked great. You may have got one of them.

Look at the lip before the leading thread. If it's not flat and has a raised ridge just on the very edge. That's the issue. They know about it. Either file it off in a few minutes or go to the dealer. They'll give you a new cap.

Oddly enough, there is a new gas cap for 2020. If all else fails, pick one of the new ones up.

There was a recall on these gas caps, should be able to get it replaced.

Dude just grind that little lip down. Your basically putting a taper on it to start the threading process. If you dont feel comfortable doing it Ill come over and do it for you.

HD replaced the one on my 2016 in the 1st year. It got worse with each fill up. It got stuck so bad one day that I had to borrow pliers from a plumber getting fuel next to me to get it off the tank.

Barely put it back on and went to the nearest dealer and they gave me a new one.
