It always amazes me how we can spend $20K+ on a toy and then balk at spending $100 on a manual to work on it. I see it with ORV's and other toys.

It is one of the first things I buy when I buy a new toy. Now days I get both a electronic version and a paper version.

I use mine a lot and glad i bought it but damn near all the pages have come loose from the glued binding and i have to be careful when using it because the pages will fall out. Someone told me to take it to fedex and they could put some sort of loop binding on it to keep it together. Oh, and i have the oily finger prints in mine also.

I always get the service manual and the parts manual for the bike.

The service manual to understand how things work, are put together and how to fix/service things. Reference it all the time because I want to know how my machine works

And the parts manual - well that is great for understanding how things are put together and the different components. When somethings needs to be replaced, you have the specific part number before you call, go online or in person

They are both great for learning and understanding

Whenever I buy a Harley I always order the Service Manual, the Electrical Manual and the Parts Manual for the year of the bike I buy. Those three manuals cover everything You need to know if You work on Your own Harley.

I use PDF download versions for service, electrical and parts. Keep a copy on my iPhone for unexpected emergencies while on the road.

I like the PDF version because after a while I get my manuals filthy. Now I scan my PC for the info I need to do a job then print out what I'll need to reference for the job. Then I'm not flipping pages or bookmarking stuff. I can just toss away the greasy pages when I'm done. I paid $15 on ebay for my 2017 manual. Plus keeping a copy on my phone is a nice insurance policy if I have a problem on the road. I have MANY different E manuals that I acquired from others over the years. The MOCO makes a killing off of me in parts I'm ok going cheap on the SM.

I just looked I have 28 different manuals starting with a 1970 FLH. Cruisers, baggers and Vrods , multiple years. Harley should sell these manuals at cost with a CD copy to anyone who purchases parts instead of gouging every penny out of us. I literally could have purchased another bike with what I've spent in just upgrade parts over the years. I have a moral issue with corporate greed.
