The 09 left me walking..........

Hello all, thought I'd share my experience this past couple of weeks-
Riding my 09 home from work one afternoon, I slowed and leaned into a turn and all of a sudden, just like shutting off a fuel valve I'm coasting to a stop. The bike only sputtered, coughed and died. Pulled into a parking lot, checked over the obvious stuff (fuel guage showed a half tank). Hit the starter, it would fire up momentarily, and die.
Long story short, after getting towed home and diving into it, I thought I might have the pin-hole fuel line issue. No, turns out the shell for the fuel filter had one of the tabs for the retainer snapped off and fuel was spraying right back into the tank.
The part is a available on its own, or as part of a whole assembly with new filter, o-ring, regulator, etc. Dealer didn't have either one. Said he'll order it. I waited a week and called back. Part is backordered until Oct 22. Bummer. So I called 2 other dealers within an hour or so drive. Second one had the assembly I needed! However, he looked inside because the box looked like it had been opened. Guess, what? Someone had already robbed the shell out of it. I almost had to laugh...….. Good news was, he had the shell, filter and o-ring on hand!
Happy ending: After I got home, swapped out the new parts, reassembled, hit the key...….. that Twin Cam fired up and ran like new again. I'm back on two wheels!
Side note: Good thing I got a filter. Mine looked like a science experiment. The bike seems to have more power now.
Sorry for the long post, but thought I'd share.
Take care all!!!

When I had my 08 there was a recall on fuel filter shell. Oddly enough, the redesigned one still showed stress marks on the tabs. I made the decision to replace the shell every 25k with the filter regardless.
