Heading to Sturgis for 1st time ever in the morning.

So tomorrow morning I will be on my way to Sturgis for the first time and I just might be a little nervous. I hope my gear holds up and on. I think I might need a ratchet strap to secure my confidence but I'll be there. If anyone sees a blue 09 Road Glide with luggage all over the highway its not me... or maybe it could be. knock(WOOD)knock!! Wish me luck...

Ride it like ya stole it!!

Good luck my friend. you wont want to ride anywhere else. Great out there, go to the needles, Mt rushmore, Crazy Horse,Deadwood,Spearfish canyon. So much to see out there see you wont want to come home. If you are taking route 90, you might want to take route 30 through chicago heights instead of chicago.less traffic! When you get to canadaigua ny on 90 you only have 1660 miles to go. route 44 is also a great alternative to route 90 across south dakota. good luck, ride safe..........

I think we will be taking 90 out of Mass to 84 then back to 80/90. I was worried about Chicago traffic too. Thanks for the tips.

Excellent advice, except he left out No Panties Wednesday across the border in Wyoming. Hit Devils Tower and then hang out in Hulett or Sundance the rest of the day. Unfortunately, it no longer lives up to it's name but it still a fun way to spend the day.

The best part of the rally is the incredible scenery. Pick up one of the Black Hills maps at any SD rest area and plan each days ride. Leave one day unplanned in case it rains and use that day to explore downtown.

And if you miss something, remember it will all be there next year.

Have fun and ride safe! We are heading out on Saturday for our 6th trip to the Rally. Wednesday at Hullet is kinda cool. We'll likely check it out for a couple of hours. As Jeff said, mostly just good people watching....and a bunch of vendors. Its a good day to take in Devils Tower cuz you'll be out that way any how.
