My good deed for the day ;)

I took the day off of work to give myself a nice 4 day weekend. Woke up, jumped on the bike to head to my physical therapy appt. Afterwards I felt great do I decided to head out for a short ride. On my why back to the house I decided to jump on the highway. Traffic is a little heavy due to the holiday weekend but I'm able to cruise about 70/75 mph. I came up on a beat up crotch rocket that's smoking while he's riding about 70ish. I pulled closer and noticed his rear tire was soaked in what looked to be oil and he's actually leaving a trail on the highway behind him. Got along side of him and yelled for him to pull over. He finally got over to the breakdown lane and stopped. I wish I took a picture of it but I didn't as I'm not one to whip out a camera just because. Anyway, his is rear tire didn't have a dry spot on it and there was instantly a puddle under his bike. I advised him not to ride it because he is sure to go down with that oil soaked tire. The kid was either Spanish or Puerto Rican and could barely speak English. I only say that because I could barely understand him and he couldn't understand what I was saying to him about crashing if he continued riding it. A passerby on the highway stopped to make sure we were ok and saw the dudes bike. It really was a piece of shit bike. The passerby was trying to explain what I was saying to the kid. He couldn't understand anything. The passerby finally got fed up and left. I kept reiterating that he should not ride the bike and to call someone to come get him. Next thing I know the kid throws his helmet back on. I asked him if he was really gonna ride it and he nodded yes. I nodded my head in disbelief, wished him good luck and jumped on my bike and rode away. I hope the kid made it to his destination. The bike had an expired motorcycle dealer plate on it and it looked like the bike may have been stolen or something as the ignition switch was nonexistent and he had no key. The moral of my story is don't be this kid. I dont care what anyone rides, I'll offer my help anytime I can just like I did with this kid i didn't know. Make sure your bikes are road worthy and safe before you become like the dumbass i tried to help today. Be careful on this holiday weekend and ride safe.

I would have promptly called the police. Nothing about that scenario screams "this is the kind of person that should be on the road".

Yep. Gotta agree with that. That bike was likely stolen and he was looking to die.

I'm sure the bike and NJ dealer plate was stolen or at the very least not legal for the road. I highly doubt anyone was actually missing the piece of shit if it was stolen as it really was a giant piece of shit lol.
As far as him killing himself, I couldnt honestly care less after I and the passerby explained multiple times he was putting himself at risk by continuing to ride it. I offered assistance and warnings to him. If he fails to heed the warnings or assistance then it's on him not me. I wasn't going to risk my life standing on the side of the highway during the rush hour holiday traffic for someone who had no regards for what could happen.

I could give two flying shits about the guy, but if he causes a wreck that injures an innocent person, or causes damage to someone else's property, THEN I have a BIG problem with it. Think his insurance will cover it? No. He most likely doesn't have insurance, and his ignorance and, perhaps illegal doings, do not give him a free pass.

you're right and I guess its possible but I highly doubt this dipshit would've killed anyone other than himself. I weighed the options and I decided it wasn't worth me risking my own life standing on the side of a busy highway filled with rush hour holiday traffic trying to holding him there while waiting for the cops to show up. given different circumstances I probably would've called but this time I didnt
