Ins. coverage of mods & labor?

My insurance company (Geico) provides for $2K additional coverage for add ons, mods, etc. I have been totaling receipts for my add ons for my RGC that is now a little over 2 weeks old. Damn it adds up fast. I'm already over $2K. And I'm not finished (maybe I will never be finished?). So, I will check what additional mod coverage will cost. And last time I spoke with them they clarified for me that if I spend $1,100 for an aftermarke exhaust system and they have to pay a claim they will be paying $1,100 (unless the system is really old) for the exhaust system and NOT saying "well, the factory exhaust that the bike came with is worth X so we will deduct the X from the $1,100 and pay the difference." So far so good. And I'm keeping all receipts, work orders, etc. But...., what I'm wondering is if I pay the dealer to install the mod and keep all the paperwork and a claim arises, is the insurance company going to pay the installation cost as well as the cost of the mod? And I wonder if all insurance companies handle that situation the same.

Any and all comments, experiences and opinions are welcome.

Thanks, Louisville Joe

I have Foremost ins. and they give 3k mods to there coverage. They will sell you additional coverage beyond 3k, you just have to ask.

Garage
Dairyland here , just had a claim in October , not my fault .

The claim included labor costs

they figured the cost of new parts and the labor to remove the damaged and install the new

They paid for the part(s) AND for the labor. That's comforting and what I wanted to hear.

Thanks, Joe

I recently bought Geico online, and they had different levels of aftermarket coverage amounts you could select.I went with 3k for now.As time goes on,I will be taking the next level, etc.doesn't seem to cost much extra.

I use progressive at this time. I have the bike insured for replacement value for that year and model and 35k in accessories. they explained that if there was ever a total loss or a claim I would have to prove with receipts so I have everything in a 3 ring binder. it's was just a 2" just had to switch to a 4". I ordered a 124" S&S motor and called to add some coverage and they gave me a adda boy because if they would have investigated and found the 124" in place of the 103" in a case of a total loss they could have denied coverage because of it not being insured withe the right motor cc's

Some people would say you have a problem. The rest of us are on this forum.

Once I make up my mind, I'm full of indecision.

I know I have a problem, but it keeps me in the garage instead of the bar. that's the only reason my wife is ok with it I think. lol I am just having a hard time figuring out what to do next.

Next you sell me your bike for $20,000 and then start over again.
See really I would be helping you by keeping you out of the bars. You and your wife can thank me later....
