Winter motorcycle ins coverage

Just throwing this out there as a money saver for some.

The weather came last week like it did for a lot of us with salt and all the crap that comes with it, my riding season is done until spring.

Annually I call my ins co and "lay up" my bike ins. They drop the collision to bare minimum and keep the comprehensive (fire, theft, vandalism). It is usually 4-5 months of down time on the more expensive part of your policy. The bank doesn't care because you have theft and their covered. The roads most like wont be clear and salt free here until mid April give or take.

This saves me 1/3-1/2 of my annual premium.

I know that some have more cost effective ins and this may not be worth while.

Just throwing it out there for those it may apply too.

I should call and see. I pay the year in total by August. So it's not a year round payment.

Just about every year, you get that "freak" couple of 60 degree days in January and February. I never shelf my insurance. I probably get out around two or three times each month in the dead of winter. And if not, my insurance is about $45 a month so it's worth having it just in case good weather comes along.
