I have been asked by a couple of folks for the closest campgrounds to the host hotel. Here are a few that I have personally stayed in and can recommend.
All three of these campsites exist within the natural habitat of Black bears and Grizzly Bears. You are a guest in their home range. Be bear aware at all times.
All nice sites here with terrific mountain views, good showers, small pool and hot tub.
Bow Valley Campgrounds in Kananaskis Country
This campground is only about 5km west from the host hotel on Hwy 1. You can make online reservations, sites in loops c,d,e are in the trees along the river. Loop A is wide open and windy. My parents used to camp here a ton with my kids and my niece. They really liked it for families. They were self contained in a 35' motorhome, have not tent camped here
Sundance Lodges | Kananaskis Campground | Tipi Camping Canada
This is a favorite of mine. Very family friendly and really cater to tourists. Close to the host hotel as well, a little farther than the Bow Valley Campground. In my opinion better protected from wind than the Bow Valley Campground. The tipi and trapper tents are a really cool way to experience camping in the Rockies.
Please note the first available date on each website to make reservations.
. Reservations are strongly/highly recommended because July and August are high season for tourism. The exchange rate on the dollar from U.S. to Canadian is going to make Canada tourism very attractive to your fellow Americans this summer, expect to see to license tags on every form of transportation from all over the U.S. when you are here this summer
August nights will be getting cooler and also when riding at dusk or when dark watch out for Deer, LARGE ELK, Bears and Mountain Sheep, they wander all over the roads up here at night.
