Finally

After more than a year and several alleged dyno tunes by HD dealers I got my bike to run right. I always assumed my Vance & Hines Big Radius pipes were mostly to blame for the poor performance. I was wrong. I started looking for different MAPS for the 254e cams and came across one for the following equipment: 254e cams, Heavy Breather, 10.5 comp, 110" heads and race exhaust. The base MAP the HD dealers used for my dyno was for: 254e cams, FT pistons, SE Breather, and race exhaust. I loaded the new MAP to my Road Glide and damn, it was like a different bike. Finally. Last night I started adjusting the decel enleanment to get rid of some popping and that is almost all completely gone now. My bike now runs like it should and I couldn't be happier. I may not buy that Dragos 2-1 pipe after all.

All that being said I have a not-so-good opinion of HD dyno tuners. 2 different dealers attempted to tune my bike. I can look at the MAPs and see what they did and what they didn't do. Obviously neither even bothered to adjust the decel enleanment cells and as far as I'm concerned they did not use the correct base MAP for dyno-ing. What the heLL did I pay for and what the heLL are these people doing? My bike runs good now and I'm happy, happy, happy.

Good to hear you sorted it out. It's unfortunate your HD dealers didn't get it right in the first place. You using the SERT.

Yes, using the HD SERT. I noticed the similarity in the 3-D graph of the new MAP and the 3-D graph of the final tune MAP by the HD tuners. I don't know a lot about tuning but I can recognize shapes. Hah. And I also know when a bike runs well and man, my bike is purring in the 3-4K rpm range now.
These HD guys get a little training and we trust them with our bikes and money. They shouldn't be dyno tuning bikes. The tech that did my last dyno tune was a HD master tech and was referred to me by a friend. Well, he was wrong.

Is there software or something available for the normal guy that has the SERT to be able to look at the MAP?

You need the tuning software and the cables, comes as a set from HD and a laptop.

I've got the SERT, and I'm guessing the orange module is part of that since I have that already. Sounds like all I need is the cable kit. However, how do I get the software on my laptop to read the orange module. The website seems to indicate the software would have come in the box, which I wasn't given anything other than the orange module.
