Engine guard

So I dropped my bike off for the 1,000 mile service at a mom and pop shop. I must have left the bolt for the engine guard that attaches to frame. Question is, does the engine guard provide and structural integrity to the fairing? Just curious is I can scoot home and head by Harley to grab a bolt.
