Shifter linkage length

How long is my shifter linkage supposed to be? I broke mine out on the road, got a replacement but don't know how long to make it. Any help would be great.

Approximately as long as the stock linkage, with a range of adjustment.

Going by memory since the manual is in the garage and its late...There shouldn't be too much adjustment. loosen the lock nuts and screw out both heim ends any equal amount (make it longer than needed). Bolt on front and rear, then turn to shorten until the shifter lkever are in the proper position. Tighten and then test it by sitting on the bike and shifting through the gears,

Do you have the manual?

I was hoping to catch a west coast rider early.

Safe at home. I'm still on the road.

Perfect. Thanks. Doesn't matter a lot on length but would hate to have to stop and redo it.
