The year I went we had to fight cages all the way up and down the mountain. So if they close it to bikes, take advantage of it.

(My hangover days are behind me.) I'm doing Sturgis this year but in July.
Sturgis in July you don't have a sea of bikes but you have to fight all the idiots in motor homes that have never driven in the hills or a big RV. Give me the sea of bikes.

If you can predict the weather for bike week, I want you to buy my next lottery ticket. Just come prepared to ride. The standing joke is that it always rains bike week, but you never know.
You can take in Weirs Beach scene in a day, but there's plenty of great riding in the area and plenty of places to suck down a beer at the end of the day.

This will be my 12th straight year attending Laconia. Went prior to that on occasion. Have been staying walking distance for a number of years now, with a large group. Also, have a family lake home about 15 minutes from Wolfboro on the Maine boarder.

As OP, I will jump in a bit and comment, as well as update.

Comment - Rain

As you look at reviews of various Rally's around the country, weather is always brought up.
But, if you Tour on a regular basis, you are aware you will get wet once in a while. IF you only tour occasionally, rain will seem a much bigger deal to you.

In this case, some nick name it Rainconia. But, the reality is out of the past 10 years, rain has been a big factor once. For the most part, it will rain at least once per week May thru July in the Lakes Region. So, using a good service, such as Weatherunderground on your phone, you can plan/ride around it.

Roads in the area:

There are quite a few awesome rides to, from, and in NH. There is a site called New England Riders. (NERDS) Best road advice site I have found. New England, NY, PA, Maritimes. I use it planning all of our group rides.

MT Washington is usually Bike Only on two days. It's not an easy ride. Beats your bike up going down. Best mountain ride, that is easy, is Whiteface near Lake Placid NY. Smooth easy gentle turns and nice pavement. Bar at top too !

The opinions expressed here, are solely the opinions of a Road Glide owner, that drives a Zamboni....

Whats the weather usually like up there that time of year? What kind of condition are the roads in, pretty rough, not too bad, Beat the shit out of you?
Let me follow up a bit.

I plan our group rides. To me, the most important thought is the time to get there, and return. Then look at the time left available at the destination.

Look at that NERDS site. There are weeks and weeks of good riding on that site here in New England. Being able to pick up the roads on that site in PA, and follow into NYS, then across would be awesome, as I have done a decent portion of them.

The worst part is getting to them. How long on RT 95 ? How many miles do you do per day?

I ask, as our group would never consider going your way, without trailering. Or, fly and rent. We have come to grips with a per day seat time maximum of 8 hours. For all to be happy, really 6 hours. Yes, we do have guys with no fairings or windshields. Yes, Roady's go long days. But, a great experience for all is the objective !

Happy to answer questions. Good Luck !!

As usual this time of year, not much is posted in the way of updates about the event. Postings pick up after St Patty's Day.

However, the NH Pavilion has a good line up for Bike Week, starting with Zac Brown Band on opening weekend.

For those of you looking to come, and get lodging. I suggest using more than any one site, while you research. The lodging page of the Official Rally site should be supplemented with other search engines. Besides that national travel web sites, Craigslist, and local real estate broker sites are good place to search. The home rental sites are also finally making inroads into this market too. We just found a third house in walking distance to the strip, on AIRBNB a couple of weeks ago.

Cool updates

Tower Hill has re titled their second floor, now The Big House.

They are using Facebook for posting the schedule, rather than their web site. See current listing here:

https://www.facebook.com/pg/towerhil...=page_internal

No one else has anything posted yet. I have looked at:

Broken Spoke
Laconia Harley
Music at the Marketplace - this is a great venue to see live music. Stage set up's in front, and in back of the central building.
Naswa
Looney Bin
Paradise Beach Club - I have heard that Tiger Lilly will be back here, on multiple nights. Great band if you haven't seen them.

76 Days to go !

This is a place for information - https://laconiamcweek.com/ the official web site of Bike Week. For those that are interested, there is flat track racing at the Loudon race track https://www.americanflattrack.com/ev...ort-track-2019
Thursday is the Ride to the Sky- the Mount Washington Autoroad ride where they close off the road to cages. It leaves from Laconia Harley and usually has police to block intersections and light. The ride up is always a chance because of the weather; Mt. Washington has its own weather system. 2 years ago it was a cloudless day in the mid 50s at the summit. Last year it rained although it was sunny down south...go figure.
Last but not least, check out the Tower Hill Climb; vintage motorcycles are raced up this steep street in the middle of the Weirs. The one that stands out for me was a 1911 HD that took 38 seconds to make it! the fastest was in the mid-10 sec range.

Thanks STR8 !

I have seen departures for the Ride to the Sky from both the Headquarters /Train Station on Lakeside, and Laconia Harley location. So, my advice is to check the Official site, and Laconia Harleys site a week or so before the event. Certainly, at the moment I type, some stuff is still cut and pasted from previous years.

Note there have been free passenger before a certain time offers in the past. I have posted their web site below.

https://mtwashingtonautoroad.com/events/ride-to-the-sky

This is a great place to ride too. Even if you don't want to go up/down Mt Washington. Escorted ride even better !

Side Note - I suggest checking multiple web sites. Not only due to the strained relationship between the "Official Bike Week" Management, and some other businesses. But, also some stuff just doesn't get posted or updated on all of the sites.
