940's vs 944's

Did the search and didn't find an answer to my question so here goes. Is there a major difference between the progressive 940 and 944 shocks? I found a place to get a new set of 940's for $472 or should I pony up the extra cash to get the 944's? Going with the monotubes in the front. Thanks.....

Could not find a 940 on the progressive web site. The will lower the ride by 1". That's the only difference I can find between those and the 444.

Red Pepper/Magnetic Grey CVO with KST black 14" apes and a quick detach TP.

The 944's are the updated version of the 940's. Don't believe Progressive makes the 940's anymore. I just happened to find a place that still has a few left. Was wondering what the difference was.....

The 944's are an updated version to the 940's.
Great shocks in my opinion.
I installed them in January 2013 along with the Mono Tubes.
I bought them from www.DirectCycleParts.com.
They had them for $549.95 plus FREE S&H at the time.
Give Frank @ DCP a call 1-800-745-6830 x105.
He's a standup guy. He'll definitely work with you.
Best of Luck!

Will take the 940 at $472. Bough my on sale $499 when the 944 introduced. That's about 200 saving both have same technology though was steel to aluminum changes.

I have the 940 and they are a good shock and work well over stock.

There is a big difference in the 940 and 944. Both are 13" shocks that are built to sit at 12" , so you have the benefit of a 13 shock added travel with the looks of a 12 shock. After that they are different.
The 940 is a steel body , the 944 is aluminum.
The 940 uses progressives old dampening technology the same as the old 440, the 944 and 444 use the new frequency adjusting technology I believe its called FST (frequency adjusting tech) and is a changing or variable system that is supposed to adjust for the needs based on the conditions by sensing the road conditions.

If the price difference is not much the 944 is a improved shock. If you are getting into the mid $ 500 area look into Terry Cable or call Howard at Motorcycle Metal and get entry level Ohlins or JRI
