Lowering just the rear

I've done a lot of searching and can't really find exactly what I'm looking for....

I want to lower the rear end 1 to 1.5" by sending my shocks to bitchinbaggers. I ride 2 up sometimes with tour pac and their site shows not to exceed a 1.5" drop if this is how I ride. Is it advisable to drop the rear this much and leave the front end stock? How will it change the handling? I'd love to drop the front too, but money is always the issue. I'd probably drop the front later on, but don't want to compromise the ride and handling/safety with just the rear dropped 1.5".

Thanks!

considering that you have an 08 that has the 13inch shocks, a 1'' drop will get you right to the stock height of the road glide custom. so going another 1/2'', you probably wouldn't even notice the difference (from the custom)

i have a road glide custom, i sent my shocks to bitchin baggers, and had them cut to 11-1/4'', which is lower than your 1-1/2'' proposed drop. yes, it is a little harsh of a ride, but with short legs, you do what you gotta do. no adverse effects as far as handling goes. one other thing though, i do not ride 2 up. but with enough pressure, you can, and still get a decent ride (so i've heard).

the one thing i would recommend, is to find a set of the newer air shocks (09 up) that have been improved from the older shocks. you can always find them fairly cheap as take offs.

I understand the concept of reality, but find it too confining for a way of life.

I dropped my EVO Tour glide and Electra glide before using the white Bro's lowering kit and left the forks alone and had no problems.

I dropped mine 1" with lowering blocks. Dont really notice any ride or handling difference. The lowering blocks will change the shock angle a bit but not enough to change anything about ride quality in my opinion. Theyre about $100 or less for the blocks and its easy to change them

I have shocks from BB, 11 1/2 inch, the only time I have any kind of issue is if I ride somebody over 150lbs (I weigh 200lbs), and then it's only on good size bumps, the ride is ok to me, I also have my front end -2" (progressive monotubes) the front is much better than OEM.

Thanks for the input. Why are the 08's and inch taller? I'm concerned with the reduced ride quality, especially 2 up. When riding 2 up we aren't light... I don't want to have this bad ass bike only to kill the ride and have my wife hate the bike because of what I just did to the suspension....

The 08s are not an inch taller , it that the customs are an inch shorter. See if you can test ride a RG custom or a street glide (it has the same suspension as the custom). If they will work for ya then the 12'' shocks will be good on your bike.

Only note is the custom RGs are only 2010s up so the frame will be different and might not give a true comparison.
