JRI Shock settings thread.....

I thought it might be good to set up a separate thread for this.

JRI B-13"

I am 195, I have 25nm springs,I am running about 1" of sag and I am at 21 clicks, I just changed from a softer 23nm spring which I think was to soft a spring, so I am still playing with damping, I think I have the big swooping bumps nailed (ie: the road along the beach is like a roller coaster with the slabs up and down, and the broken up and re-tarred roads seem very good, but every so often I get a hit, I am going to play with the damping and then maybe add a turn to tighten the springs.

I ordered a set of JRI B's last week and I thought Howard said the new JRI's are different and to not set them up by reading old threads on the JRI's.

Just to let everyone know, there is a break in period on new shocks. I set them all around the middle then put 5 or 6 hundred miles on them before i get serious about tweeking the adjustments. Otherwise you will constantly be ajysting them until they are broke in.

Definitely 800-1500 mile break in, just leave them at whatever base setting Howard gives you

what base setting does howard give? Mine shipped directly from JRI... unless he tells them to set them to something specific?

btw. got mine installed tonight 30mm of sag (best I could tell). Did not monkey with the preload or damping.

both the ohlins and jri's where set around the middle of the adjustment for compression and rebound.

Mine was 1/3 of the stroke for sag and turn the sweep valve all the way + till it stops then 14 back, I ran that for about 900 miles, the 13" shocks 1/3 is about 31 mm

Thai is what I did. I gave the specifications to Howard which he requested, I understand he translated that into JRI speak, placed the order with JRI who then shipped directly to me. I merely bolted them on.

I guess I'm lucky, Howard lives 20 minutes away from me, so not only did he do the installation, when I got them broke in he also did the fine adjustments.
