2010 - Air Ride - How low can I go?

I am putting a air ride on my bike. I have the progressive air dragger shocks with the compressor and 2" lowering blocks which give me a max height of 11" and minimum of 9". I am thinking on switching to the Xotic shocks that have a total travel of 5". These shocks travel from 14" - 9". I am running V&H Big Radius so exhaust clearance is not an issue. I was planning on still using the 2" lowering blocks to make the travel 12" - 7".

My question is how low can I drop this before the tire hits the fender?

Thanks.

Trial and error! my buds run scooter tires on the back of there batwings. The tires have 1 1/2" of side wall. looks cool as hell! recommended? hell no! There bags scrape everywhere! Bike looks really nice a 1/2" from the floor though

My gabriels are like 9.75 and it gets close to the fender. 9 would be the absolute shortest I would go IMHO. If you actually plan on riding the bike you want the suspension to still have enough height that in case of an issue that causes you loss of pressure you can still get home without worry of ripping all the wiring out from under the fender.

If it's a parking lot ornament set the fender on the tire and keep on stylin

Thanks. I did think about failure but....while close to home figured I'd chance it. I ride about 15-20k per year so its definitely not a ornament. I always have tools so if the system does fail I can simply remove the lowering blocks which will put it back to 9" to get home. I just cant stand the look of it raised with the big radius on there!

By the way, this is only for when the bike is parked. I will more than likely ride at about 10.5 - 11".

I don't know what the roads are like where you live, but I thought I'd be riding at 10-11 too. Definitely not the case! If you plan on doing it very often I'd suggest carrying an extra spleen with you! I spend my riding time at pretty much full length and slam it in a parking lot.... Just my rigid advice though! Ha ha!

Well my first bike was a custom rigid. Rode that for a while the rode a Big Dog Ridgeback for 2 years. Did a 600 mile trip each way to FL and back on that bike with no problems. Given the history, anything with any amount of shock absorbetion feels like floating on air to me. Now dont get me wrong, I've almost had to pull over after a few kidney blasts lol....
