Longer kickstands

Does HD offer a LONGER kickstand or a way to eliminate thr back and forward roll when u put it down? I've only have had my 08 custom a month as im used to my 03 roadstar and still trying to get used to it.

the length of the kickstand has nothing to do with the play or roll you are experiencing

All of mine do it...always have, always will. It's how they are designed. You'll get used to it after several small heart attacks.....

the stand locks when it rolls forward , so provided you kick it fully out , it will roll a bit and stop

You can put the bike in gear when you park it. That's a good idea anyway.

actually, if the stand were longer, you would experience more roll than you do now. look at how it works, you'll learn to trust it.

I understand the concept of reality, but find it too confining for a way of life.

Didn't Harley used to refer to that locking kickstand design as a jiffy stand?

I don't see it being referred by that name anymore, but I haven't noticed a change in design. It still gives me heart murmurs sometimes but it works good as long as you make sure to extend it fully.

2008 Black Pearl - Major upgrades are : 103" Stage 2 / PCV & AutoTone / V&H True Duals & Monster Ovals / Baker 7-speed Transmission
Arlen Ness 18" Rims & Avon Venoms / Brembo Differential Brakes / Hawg-Wired Stereo / Mustang Seat / Detach King TP / some other doo-dads

Have a close look at the top of that stand when it is deployed. Any movement is restricted by the way the stand sits between some rather substantial mechanical stops. I have had trouble with mine when I am parked on a gentle slope but now that I understand what is going on it no longer bothers me at all. Anything that solidly restrained will work out just great.

Added equipment was a stage 1 HD air cleaner, a Cee Baileys windshield and a turn out boot heel guard. I also went with the BAL1 tail light MOD. You can never be too safe with lighting. Now I am riding a Vision with minor mods to give me this.
