Legend AXEO and a decision to make...

So, I started out talking with my dealer about upgrading the front suspension to Ohlins (they say they can't get them)....but they mentioned Progressive and Legend.
I inquired about the Legend AXEO after reading several posts and comments on this forum. I'm pretty confident I'll be going with the AXEO's in the very near future. My wrists take a beating on these Michigan roads and hitting potholes in the middle of a turn pretty much sucks.

I have a 15 RGS and I have Super Shox on the back, a 2013 CVO solo seat and I'm flat footed with the bike upright.

My question is....are there any advantages of any sort to going with other than the standard length system? I understand I can go 'standard' or -1".

Thanks for your comments.

I think folks go with the 1" lower for looks. Check out JRI they are a site sponser and they have front monotube shocks like the Axeo. I test rode them in Daytona earlier this year and was very impressed.
I have the progressive monotube up front with 944's on the back. I bought them cheap from a friend. they are better than stock that's for sure, but if I were buying a new set I would try JRI.

The advantage is to stay with the standard length. If you go 1 inch lower, you have one less inch of travel to absorb those MI pot holes.

I run the legends Axeo on the front of my CVO Road King, they are the best I have had, way better then progressive. I have Ohlin HD-259 on the rear. Bike like yours came with 12" rear shocks, but I put 13" Ohlin for more travel and more lean angle.

I emailed legend about the axeo standard height. They stated that the standard height is still about 3/4 lower than the stock road glide ultra front end. Hope that helps.

I have the Legend Axeo and Revo-A on my 16 RGS. I ordered the factory height suspension for the Special. The setup ended up being about 3/4" lower than the actual factory height. I like the ride of the suspension, but had I known it would actually result in a lower ride height, I probably would have gone with a suspension set up for an Ultra. I would have liked a little more travel. Our roads in NJ and PA aren't much better than MI. Plus I am about 6'3" tall so, the additional height wouldn't have been any trouble.

Good luck with decision.

I had the standard height AXEO's installed last Friday. I had to ride to the dealer in 19 degree weather with the roads in my subdivision lightly covered with snow. Main roads and highway were clear, but damn it was cold. I was at the dealer about 5 hours, shopping-talking-walked down the street for breakfast, etc. Anyway, I only had a 20 mile ride back home afterwards so not much of a review to post...however, I did notice it rode alot smoother and made the back seem like it was too stiff. I felt the same way about the front suspension when I changed to Super Shox on the rear a year ago. I think I probably need to dial down the rears a bit to soften them up, but will wait until Spring to evaluate that, and refer to their settings chart as well. I ride solo 99% or more of the time, so, I should be able to dial them in and be done. I didn't remember to take a measurement of the bike in the cradle to see if it sits any lower after the swap.
