11 Roadglide suspension

Morning all, just thought I would put this out there. I know this is a well used subject and everyone has an opinion. 2 winters ago I decided to take off the HD factory air shocks that kept losing air, I didn't like the ride anyway. I bought Progressive 944's along with me brother would had a Street Glide and we installed them and come spring started the riding season, My brother rode his a few weeks and ended up buying a new Street Glide Low. I think the shocks S___k as bad as the HD. I set the sag and all that crap. Than tried full adjustments up and down than went 1 shock up 1 down. I think they stink. I know the shock travel is the main issue 1 1/2 - 2" max because of the design of the swing arm etc.. Maybe I'm too critical but I am totally pissed off. I talked to Progressive they said I installed wrong. WTF!!!! any 4 year old knows how to install them. My FXR rides better than the Glide. Anyone have shocks they like on their Glide. I live in New England and the roads S__K but cant move. Planning a month trip up to Canada and Nova Scotia Newfoundland this summer and if I cant get a decent ride I'm going to go Jap bike and dump the Glide. I have owned HD's since 71 went I got my first Sporty and been riding and wrenching my own bikes since. I hate to change but I'm fed up. When I'm riding 2 up I have to yell bump ahead so the wife can brace herself.

On my 11 CVO I went with Ohlins great shock / excellent ride - high cost - on my 17 I went with SuperShox premium - the premium gives you 14" of travel - the ride is as good as the Ohlins - the quality is excellent - to me travel is everything in a shock - to get a 14" on a RGS was great - the extension to the swing arm is a quality piece and is supplied with the shock - I've got 10K on them - adjustment is simple - performance has been great with no issues -

I got the HD premiums that i bought off another member and i got to tell you i like they way better than my previous progressives , i feel that i can dial the weight in just right, mine are the shorter 12s but they are avail in 13s as well, for the money i think they are the best bang for the buck JMO. My glide is a 2011 FLTRX .

When all else fails, hell there is always beer!

The TRX uses a shorter shock, that's why they only have 2 inches of travel. If you put the TRU shocks on them it lifts the ass an inch and you get 3 inches of travel.

I run 444's on the back of mine, but with the heavy spring to make them handle better. And even with the heavy springs they ride better than the oem air shocks. A little more harsh on small bumps, but the spine compacting bottoming out on the frost heaves is gone.

seems kind of extreme to dump your hd because a totally separate, non related company has a less than stellar product.

get a good shock, and you'll like (love) your bike again. plenty of options out there, progressive isn't one of them.

I understand the concept of reality, but find it too confining for a way of life.

Ohlins on my 2009 FLTRSE3 are the best Iíve found so far, had Progressives on my 2008 RG and were better than stock but not by much. Also hear great things about Super Shox.
