Drag Premium Shocks ???

Anyone have any experience with the Drag Premium Ride Height Adjustable Shocks? I know their not Legends or Progressives but some of us are on a budget. Thanks.

It doesn't matter, as long as you ride.

Just save your $$$ and wait till you can afford a quality set of shocks. Or keep a close eye on the forums and eBay and pick up a used set of quality shocks. No point in wasting $$$

Never heard of them, but then again I hadn't heard of Pro-Action until earlier this year, and that is who I am choosing for my suspension upgrade in the spring.

Don't go cheap on shocks. Best $ you will ever spend on a RG. I suggest 13" Ohlins HD 159s.

I bought those Drag Specialties 13" height adjustable shocks to see if they would work on my 17 RGS. They did not work for me. I am 220 lbs. and carry about another 25 lbs in the saddlebags, combined. The coil spring is not heavy duty enough and there is not enough adjustment in the shock to support that much weight, the shock bottomed out on the slightest of bumps or pot holes. They may be ok for someone weighing around 150 lbs riding solo, but two up is out of range for these shocks. They are even worse than the stock 12" premium HD shocks.

I’ve got a little over a hundred miles on the so far.I went riding after work yesterday and found some rougher roads. They ride great on the interstate.Since they’re an inch longer a Didnt know how they would handle but they handle great in corners so far but haven’t pushed hard yet.On rougher roads it was a much nicer road. They absorb the road well.Where they do great is over rail road crossings and bumps that would normally cause you to gather yourself because you separated from the seat. They really do a good job on the bigger bumps. It know longer feels like you’re in a one ton dually with nothing in the back. I’m going to get their cartridges for the front next. I’m happy. And you can get a heavy duty spring if you’re more than 400lbs a certain amount of the time.

Don't believe everything you think.

I'm guessing that you bought the 13" version with the standard springs? If so, noticeable difference in the ride height or did you use a lower kit in conjunction with to bring it back down to the approximate factory ride height?

I'm probably going to get blasted for this but here goes......................

I know that Ohlin makes GREAT shocks for our sleds. I don't know Smarty personally and haven't ever been a customer, but there is an overwhelming body of evidence here that he sells a fantastic product with superior customer service. And, I do personally know two members here and at the "other forum" who have purchased shocks from him. I've never rode their bikes, but they heap plenty of praise on the ride and Smarty's customer service.

Here's where I'll probably get blasted. Sometimes these suspension threads start sounding like the audio threads over at the "other forum". Unless you're plopping down 8, 9 10 or more Benji's your upgrade ain't worth s*&t. Unless you're running this or that then you're just "throwing away" your money.

I love it when people here are willing to go out on a limb using their own hard earned cash or savings to try something that isn't mainstream. In fact, except for the great forum members and super friendly help it's one of the things I love most about roadglide.org

If it weren't for people willing to spend their own $ we would never know when comparable or even better products arrive on the market. When those alternatives might save us a few $ that's even better. So for all you members that step outside of your comfort zone and away from the beaten path to try new things, I just want you to know that I appreciate that!
