Red face Shocking Dilemma- Harley Premium over air?

Hi all.. I have an 09 Fltrse that I bought last year.. I am really disappointed with the rear air shocks..it is almost unsafe since the rear bounces me up on bumps on the highway.. was thinking of buying a set of used hand adjustable harley premiums from eBay. I am not made of money, so is this worth it? Can’t really understand how a system with two different shocks would work... can probably get a set for $200.. based on feedback from the forums if this is a waste of time I will call Brian at Super Shocks but $600 is too steep for me (just bought the bike for $14,500.. a deal since it only had 4K miles)..
Other info. is I am 200 lbs.. and I ONLY ride solo and am a very aggressive rider (I have a Buell as well). Thanks to all for your input.
Brian

To me for the money they are and were worth it. I got a set of take off from a 15 and put them on my old 12 SG. They rode better then the air shocks and I didn't have to keep messing with them all the time.

Adjust only needs to be on one side due to the swing arm design. Anything is an improvement over the stock air. In 15 one selling point HD made about the RGS over RG was the shocks.

I preferred the air on my '16 Road Glide Ultra over the standard shocks that come on the '17 Road King and '18 Road Glide Special.

I had to have the air shocks serviced once under warranty for losing air, but once they got them dialed in they were good.

Any worn shocks are going to be awful, so anything you put on will be an improvement. For me the 12" shocks just don't have enough travel for less than smooth roads but they sure make the smooth corners a blast to ride!

Have you experimented with the air pressure in the stock shocks yet? I would suggest trying 35-40lbs at you weight and see if it works better for you. You can get the small HD air pump but used my small hand pump for my bicycle that has a gauge on it. I'm another one that is not fond of the HD premium shocks and I could get the standard air shocks to ride better for me.

Not sure about the 09 cvo but the 09 RG's came with 13" air shocks. So if you do switch , I'd be looking for 13" adjustables. Don't think you'll like the 12" if you're not happy with the 13" .

Like RGKEN said, make sure you haven't got too much/too little air in the ones you got now.

If I have to explain ,you wouldn't under stand anyway.

I don't think you meant to quote me. I had no issues with the ride quality on the air shocks. No longer have any bikes with air shocks so I guess the HD air pump has now earned display status.

I've had both of the 12" versions (premium and air). Both were bad. I've also had the 13" air. Not too bad. And I'm currently running the 13" premium with tamarack lowering blocks. Best so far.

Harley hand adjustable shocks are terrible. All the load is carried by the left shock and when hitting bumps you get a funny kick to the side because of it. Iíd much rather run the air shocks.
