Any 6.5" speaker fit the RG?

Will any 6.5" speaker fit in the roadglide with an adapter plate? As lame as it sounds, my in-laws want X-mas gift ideas and I'm wanting to ask for a set of speakers. Was just going to specify size because my father-in-law likes to research the crap out of reviews and likely will get me the brand he likes best. Which is fine as long as they fit.

You should be able to fit any 6.5 - 6.75, I have a set of Focal KRs which have about the largest magnet I've seen, and they fit fine.

Same with the Hertz HCX I have, large magnet, no problem. Maybe ask for a gift certificate so you can buy what you want, there are many choices but only a few that will serve well in our environment, I went through two types of speakers and amps before I found a combo I liked. Have fun with the in-law's money!

I have the Focal 6.5" speaker in my RG CVO and I love, love, love them. The sound is amazing however you will need to change out the amp cuz the Focals are 4-ohm and the stock HD or HD upgrades are 2-ohm. I got mine from Soundz Customz out of Idaho. They were at Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach and they installed the system. I used to not hear my radio once I was doing around 60-mph. Now it blasts and is crystal clear at 80mph. I also did a lot of research and was considering JM Rokker or HogTunes but after doing my due diligence I had to go with the Focals. They are also available through Crutchfield online. Good luck. By the way I'm selling my complete CVO sound system including two fairing speakers, two saddle bag lid speakers and two 250-watt amps if you know of anyone interested. First $600 takes it all.

Ride it like you stole it!!

I have the 6.5 in the fairing with the adapters and bought a set of polks and they wouldn't line up also bought a set of 51/4 for the tour pack and they were to thick for the pods so I gave them away because the site said no returns if opened so I didn't even mess with it. When I had my batwing I had 4 51/4s in the fairing with a 300 watt amp and that sonofagun would crank

Hawg Wired makes a good 5.25 to 6.5 adapter.

as for speakers...that's a good way to start an argument.

Focal, Hertz, HAT, Hawg Wired, Polk MM series and J&M all make quality speakers that will hold up in our enviroment.

ha. Not trying to start an argument!

Just wanted to make sure something with a huge magnet wouldn't be too big. I trust my father-in-law's judgment and he generally gets something way nicer than what I would have got myself. He'll likely get me Hertz which is fine by me. He actually has a whole bunch of hertz speakers in his garage he just bought for his suburban. Honestly I don't listen to the radio much (mostly cause it sounds like crap) so anything will be better.

Batbiker brought up something I was wondering about though... the ohm of the speaker. So the ohm of the speaker has to match the amp, is that how that works? It's been a really long time since I've built stereo systems in cars and can't remember how that works. If I don't have a amp now (FLTRX), does it matter what ohm the speakers are, as long as I match the amp later? I just knew this was an issue with the focal's because my uncle has a set he tried to put in his '13 CVO and couldn't and ended up using something else. And of course, won't sell his focals.

IMO,

since you are going to have the faring off anyway, put a 2 channel 4ohm amp in there. one of the RF's, Hawg Wired CS-300, JM or the Arc amps in there. Then you will be able to really hear your "New" speakers.

Was thinking that too. Will any of those amps work? Seen everyone uses something different. Didn't know if 1 was more weather and shock proof than the others...??? Also, saw that Hawg Wired sells an amp mounting plate and the wiring harness. Is that the easiest way to do that?
