Inner fairing speaker install tips

I just ordered a pair of RF T165 speakers to mount in the inner fairing. Just wondering if anybody had any tips/gotchas to share for doing this mod? What are you using to cut the fairing? Cut from inside or out? Taping off the area to cut? Any tips at all would help ease my fears about doing a hack job on my inner fairing

Thanks

Looks like DB has the show on this one. But as always, there are a thousand ways to skin a cat. I installed a set of Rockford PPS4-6s in my innner fairing and it was surprisingly simple to do. The only things I had to worry about where pocket clearance and re-enforcing the plastic for the added weight. I used 1/4" birch wood to make the rings to mount behind the plastic to strengthen them. I also had to cut the storage pockets on both sides to get the necessary clearance.

Any and all help is good, there isn't only one way to do it. I think people should look at your pics as well as others. I'm just simply trying to pass along information that was given to me and helped a lot.

Not trying to hi-jack your forum, but I'm also using dbells instructions and trying to install some JBL GTO638 6.5-Inch in my inner fairing.
I have removed my fairing to do this task.
I did a mock up on a piece of 1/4" plywood, just to get some practice before cutting into my fairing! Consequently I have not cut my fairing yet. But I did find a nice little air saw at Harbor Freight for $17, it works great (on 1/4" plywood). I was able to follow my line quite easily with it.

Here's the issue. I cannot get the speaker cover to sit nice and flat against the surface of the plywood.
There is a 3/16" gap.

Anybody else run in to this Issue?

I have quit trying for this evening.
