Question for audio experts - rear speakers in/out

I have a 12 CVO with speakers in the rear lids. The amp says MTX on it. When I have it up loud the rears will cut in and out intermittently. I have had it low volume for a bit and could not reproduce by shaking connections, wires, etc. I am not an electrician. I can only guess maybe the amp in the rear bag is getting weak but all speakers should cut out if that was it correct?? Amp didn't feel hot. Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance, Jason

The speakers could be bottoming themselves out causing the amp to lose output for a second. If the amp is only running those two speakers that is all that will cut out. Try either turning the crossover frequency up a little bit if the amp has that adjustment or turn the gain down on the amp if no crossover. What model amp is it?

Has MTX 441ELH1722 just below a bar code and says Mitek REV A 76000141 on it. I didn't see any adjustments on it so not sure what it is but when I unplug it the rear speakers go out. Has like a big 12 or so pin connector running to it.
Could it be an aftermarket controller? I bought the bike second hand so not sure.

Sounds like it's only running the rear speakers. Try unplugging just one rear speaker and play it. See if it cuts out again. If it doesn't than the speaker you unplugged is bad. If it does try the other side. The problem is most likely caused by a bad speaker.

Classic symptom of an amp going into protection mode on those particular channels. I just had that happen a few months ago with my rokker 500w amp. Front channels would cut out intermittently when music was up loud. The channels in your amp are bad. Good thing is that there are some great amps out there to replace it with that wont cost you a ton of coin. Let us know what you decide.
