140 watt speakers on a stock HD deck

I'm a noobie when it comes to stereo stuff, so bear with me on this question.
I just replaced the stock speakers on my 2010 RG due to "crapping out" at anything over 50%. The replacement speakers are 140 watt 2 ohm compared to the 40-50 watt 2 0hm stock speakers. Do I need to run an amplifier to utilize the watt upgrade or will the stock deck perform well enough? Can I install an amp with the stock deck or should I change the deck as well when adding an amp?

Your word is your bond.

Underpowered high end speakers can sound as bad as crappy power matched speakers. You can buy amps that are fed from the speaker output of the stock head. I recommend using pre-amp inputs. Iron Cross Audio installed mine when I had it in for a LCD face change to match my gauges. I don't remember the cost, but it sounds much better with my Arc amp.

If you can change it all do it. Aftermarket radios offer way more features and cleaner signal output to feed an amp. If you like the stock HK the Iron Cross mod is a great mod then add an amp to it and you will be rocking!
