Double up wattage on head unit outputs? XM reception?

Hey everybody, I have a 2007 with a stock head unit. I had a set of boom audio speakers installed while she was in the shop last winter. It made some improvement but not quite loud enough for me. I remember when I was a kid guys would make a pretty loud 2 speaker set -up by making jumpers and plug the speakers into both the front and rear outputs for the correct side from the head units. Basically doubling up the wattage for each side. Has anyone tried doing this with the stock HK head unit? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but wanted to ask here before I tried it. I may go with an amp and a 4-6 speaker set up in the future, but it is pretty low on the $$ project list.
Also, the PO had the XM module installed by the dealership. I just got it turned on last week and the reception is TERRIBLE. Ten seconds of music then 30 seconds of static if I am moving. Works OK when Stopped though. I am not driving in a city, or other high interference area and reception is equally bad on hilltops on the prairie. I haven't pulled the fairing yet to see but I am guessing that that antenna location is the problem. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what is the solution?

Thanks

Needing more power isn't really you only problem. You can try wiring like you said but if you send a crap signal with more power you will just get a louder crap sound. The signal out of the head unit is the biggest problem. Changing the radio to an aftermarket unit and adding an amp will solve it. Or keep the HK and have Iron Cross add the preamps and run an amp from the HK would work to that way you can keep, your XM. Sounds like you have an antenna issue with the XM. See where it's mounted. Worst case try a new antenna. Cheap money if it is the problem. Mine is inside the fairing above my fuel gauge and work fine. Hope that helps.
