CDT Speakers

Been doing the typical cramming for the basic noob audio project of replacing stock speakers to 6.5s and on an inner fairing job as well. Have found tons of stuff on all the common speaker brands but unless Im inept at searching the forum (very possible), I see very little on CDTs. I know they make some good high end stuff but wanted to see if anyone had experience or opinion on their lower cost stuff like the HD-6EX.2 or the CL-6EX.2. From what little Ive seen outside the forum they are great but nothing on here cause its all the Kappa 62.11i.

Anyone out there give me a hand and let me know what you think?

Also Im planning on running two RF BPR300x2 for each set of whatever I go with. Looked at the SS x4 but I want to do the inner fairing job and unless Im incorrect I can't find a way to mount it easily unless its right between the boxes in the inner fairing spot. Im writing about the CDLs and hate to get off topic but if anyone wants to put ANY info whatsoever on these plans, this audio idiot would greatly appreciate.

And last thing... thank you to the big audio guys like H-donut and Ultranutz. Although the majority of your info goes right over my head, what I can understand is amazing and greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, I haven't seen any information on that brand, but being one of the first, you can share information. Let us know if it's a hit or miss.

CDT, Morel and Focal were all on my short list also

for the money I really liked the character of the HawgWired ZX

I bought 4 pairs and ran them through a speaker switcher at a lower volumes to actually hear the difference and what would sound best, to myself, the four pairs were, Pioneer G164, ZX, HAT, and Polkdb

by far, the ZX and Pioneer each were the clearest and sounded closest in overall equal output

I needed 4ohm comparisons because I wanted to run the PBR300x2 at 2ohms like you are planning on doing

as stated above, if, I hadn't found the FOUR I wanted to use, CDT was a next up, because the Morels are pricey, Morels sound great

Kappas and MM speakers have higher SPL's and are 2ohm, good for single speaker installs, and or for example a lid speaker

Yes, please lets us know, I've seen some crazy you tube videos of the CDT's hitting some numbers

So h-donut this is probably gonna get over my head but if I understand correctly you'll be running all four speakers so that the work with 2ohms of the pbr? Is there a name for that type of wiring?

And why is the 2 ohm speakers better for single setups? Do you see any issue with my plans, would it make more sense to do it the same way you are with the 4 ohm speakers?

Okay so I dusted off the old brain and realize you are wiring the four speakers in parallel with the one amp. So I guess my only question is did you do that for bang for buck reasons or a technical or quality reason?

I already have my pbr now I'm just questioning going 4 of the the cdt 4 ohm versions and doing the inner fairing now haha.
