Replacing speakers w/o amp

Due to funding constraints I am thinking about replacing the stock fairing speakers with 6.5's and adding amp next year. Should I be concerned about not pushing enough power thru these speakers for a year? Will there be s noticeable sound difference? I have a pair of hawg wired grills I itchen to install and while the fairings off I might as well do speakers. I have about $175.00 on speakers and adapters.

I would look for a speaker with a high s/n rating if you plan on running them with no amp for a while. Either way, aftermarket speakers will def. sound better than the stockers, even without an amp.

I went the just speaker route the first time I upgraded and got bored with it pretty quick. Certainly better than stock, but that's not saying a whole lot, you really need an amp to wake things up. For $175 you can probably pick up a used set of Kappa 62.11s and a PBR 300x2 from the forums or fleabay - probably one of the most popular bang for the buck systems you can get. You would still need adapter rings and the power/ground wire for the amp. If you can wait to save up a few more bucks and go that route you may end up better off in the long run. Wish I would have just went big the first time and saved me time and money in the long run.

I've been running a set of 6.5 polks without an amp for several years without any issues. Anything will be better than the stock speakers. I just got my inner fairing back from paint so I figured nows the time to do the radio and amp and add speaker lids

I replaced my stock fairing speakers with 7.25" with no amp. Then took the stock and installed them in the inner fairing. Way better than stock and still have option of amp to drive more sound. One of the best mods For the $.

Did the 4 speaker mod. Cut holes on the inside of the inner fairing. The DIY section has many posts, mine included, with pics. Not difficult to do and worth the effort.

I did the same, replaced the speakers last year with a 60$ set of Polks someone gave me. Was noticeably different/better sound. I was worried about not doing the amp at the same time but ended up being fine. I ran over budget last year on mods so amp wasn't an option.

I'm doing the amp this year. I am replacing the speakers while i'm at it though with the infinity Kappa that everyone likes so much. Got a set off amazon for 120$. They look better than my polks. If it were me, I'd do the kappas this year and worry about the amp next year. At lest your not re-doing anything. Good luck.
