2 ohm 6.5 speaker selection

OK I know it's been beaten to death elsewhere I'm sure, but.... Just installed the PBR 300x2 and infinity Kappa 62.11i's in the front fairing of the 13 RGU and am looking to add another amp and speakers in the tp pods. For those who have used multiple 6.5's which 2 ohm speaker has given you the best performance? Also, Can you recommend a 6.5 speaker for the rear tour pack pod? All suggestions considered. Thanks for the info, especially looking to hear from dbell and h-donut.

Am only interested in the 2 ohm sets as I still plan on using the oem hk hu

For 2 ohm, unless you have wads of money you want to spend, the Infinity is the best bang for buck that I know of. Also with the size of the pods, test the fit first.

thanks dbell, was hoping to hear that there was another good choice for under $200.00.

Are you planning to amp the rear speaker pods? If so, you're not constrained by the 2 ohm only speakers.

I bought some JBL GTO638's off Amazon for about $60. They fit in the front fairing perfect and sound SO much better than the stock speakers.

Not real sure how you arrived at this conclusion since the head unit (factory HK) is 2 ohms and the amp (PBR300x2) is 2 ohms and I'm planning on using the onboard wiring harness for the ultra which should power the speakers in parallel so 2 ohm speakers should be required if I've done my research correctly. Any thoughts about this from the experts? H-donut? Dbell? Anybody?!?

I think what 09Sharknose is saying is that your not confined because you can use a different amp. You're not confined anyway because if you used 4 ohm speakers you wouldn't hurt the amp or the HU, just you wouldn't get the most power out of it.

Thanks for the explanation Dbell. I'm really not interested on spending money on an inefficient system, or to put it another way, I want to get the most performance possible for the least amount of money. That would seem to be using compatible 2 ohm components throughout in order to maximize the performance and output of the components. Also, I thought I had read on here that using a 4 ohm speakers with a 2 ohm hu and amp would increase the heat in the hu and amp and therefore shorten the life of both. Bottom line I guess is who makes the best 2ohm speakers, that can handle the output from a 300 watt, 2 channel, 2 ohm amp? I willing to drop a couple of bills for the right speakers but want to get teh best bang for the buck.
