Speaker lid wiring route.

Can someone point me in the right direction with the wiring route. I want to get some speaker lids but want to get educated first. This is on a 2015 RGS.

Some questions need to be asked. Are you using the stock radio? Are you installing an amp? If so where are you going to mount it?

Stock Boom touch screen. The lids will come with J&M speakers with wiring. I want to get an amp as well later. I'm just getting getting my entire rear end and want to know how. I tried searching but didn't get far.

Speaker lid wiring route.

Since you're using J&M speaker lids, you might consider looking at their installation manuals for their 500w 4 channel amp and speaker lid kit. I purchased this, but still need to take the lids to be painted.

Aside from where you source the harnesses, I'd think the install is essentially the same no matter which amp you decide to go with.

I would give j&m a call. I have those same lids but with the 500w amp . I'm not sure how you can wire it without an amp . I believe you will need an amp for 4 speakers.

Call j&m 😎😎😎

I was just looking at a 2015 Road King CVO at the stealer and they had what looked like Doutch (spelling?!) connectors mounted behind the shock pocket on the bags. Then the wiring ran up under the rear frame cover to under the seat. I thought that was a pretty trick setup!

I have Hog Tunez lids and they came with instructions and wiring harness and grommet where you cut a hole in the bags in front of the shock moldings and slightly below and behind the saddlebag front mounting hole. Then run the wires up under the seat. But I need to take off my seat and unplug the speaker connectors to remove my bags. The Road King idea seems better as the Doutch connectors are waterproof and all that you would need to do is remove the bag pins and unplug the connector to remove the bags! Go to a dealer and hopefully there is a CVO with speakers in the bags so you can check out this setup. I'll bet the connectors are available from HD for a premium with the mounting plate needed for the bags but the connectors are available on eBay and I would make a mounting plate to save me some.

My 13 has room for all my amps in the fairing but this same setup could support saddlebag mounted amp(s) with the proper grommet and wire size.

Thanks Captain.... I'll go by on maybe early next week. I'm gonna go with the J&M setup I suppose. I have to see how they detach with ease.

Lol.... Like the reference.

I'm sure the J&M setup is similar to the HogTunez and they include full instructions. I have J&M's on my lowers and RF's in the fairing. And another set of J&M's for the fairing but wanted to try something different so I took them out.

I wanted 6x9's for the saddlebags and I don't think J&M had kits when I did mine, or they had their 7 inch speaker lids... Don't remember. The only thing about the 6x9's is the magnet basket takes away some storage. Not a big deal until the wife and I go somewhere and she needs the room!

Good luck with it. I just wanted to throw something out there to get you thinking. Taking the seat off is not that big a deal but the 14/15 setup makes it that much easier to service.
