My AV Aquatics Head Unit Install

I thought that I would share my experience installing the new AV Aquatics head unit. I am by no means a mechanic by trade, but I would consider myself to be an above average do it yourselfer...

So to begin I removed my outer fairing and started disconnecting all the cables to the head unit.

Then I removed the mounting screws to remove the head unit itself...( I find adding some windex to the gasket helps it pull out easier)

Once the head unit is out

I just slipped the new on in... It's important to note that the stock Harley head unit slides out the back and the AV unit slides in from the front

Again I added some windex applied by finger to the gasket to help it slide in. I have read that some people had some issues getting the unit in place. Mine went in with a little wiggling...

Once it seated just used the stock hardware to secure it in place...

As for the audio connections... I am using the J&M XT amp... As the amp uses rca connections from the amp to the head unit, it was just a matter of connecting the amp RCA's to the AV RCA's. I chose to use the RCAs to make the connections easier as all I had to do was remove the J&M RCA to wire adapter...

U have the choice to use either the RCAs or u can use the stock speaker lines that are in the 23 pin connector (front) and if u have rear speakers attach the leads to the included harness that clips into the back of the unit...
Then just arrange ur wiring

Before closing everything up, make sure everything is working

I few points

I would note that as I use my Zumo 665 as my satellite radio receiver I used an RCA to 3.5mm pin cable connected to the rear audio in plugs.

Through the settings u can turn off the internal amp if u are running an external amplifier.

Overall I'd say this is one of the easier installs I have done and I like the set up much better then stock...
