Lids speaker questions

How many have used the lids with speakers? Is there any problem with the lids leaking? How about the sound quality?

Thanks

I use the hogtunes lids with no leaking issues. Sound is going to be a function of your audio setup. I can hear mine at 80mph with all other speakers turned off. From reading posts on here, I'm not sure that's the norm.

I have HD lids on my 15RGS.... I used weather stripping on the mounting base of speakers... no leaks

Arc amp pushing Hybrid Audio 157-2's.... I love them and waterproof

I've had zero issues with with leaks. However, on my 2012, I have Never been satisfied with the quality of the sound output relative to the cost. I understand that the Rushmore audio is a significant improvement over what I have though. But it on my bike, I wish that I would have never started down that path.

I ran a thin bead of RTV sealant under the speakers to keep water out. I even blast them with the hose.

Thanks for the replies, I have bought the Harley lids and going to use focal speakers with the arc amp. I am now debating on if I should buy a separate hardware kit for the new lids for quick change out if needed.

it really depends on if your looking for riding or parking lot stereo.

At speed, your not going to get much quality sound from your lid speakers. They will sound great in the parking lot at bike night or bar hopping.

Faring and lower speakers give you the best sound for riding

If you have a good amp and speakers in your faring and add these to your lids you will have the best of both worlds

keep us posted

Check out the Hybrid Audio 157-2's compared to Focals... I almost got Focals, but found out they don't like water... 157-2's are waterproof. That's what I decided on....

FLGator,

I have the Arc Amp in one bike, but am considering the new Marine Fosgate Amps TX Series. I have heard both side by side and am leaning towards the TX series, 840 amp 4 channel with the focals.
