I need a speaker upgrade!

So I have a new to me 2013 RG Custom. I want to upgrade the fairing speakers with a set of 6.5s and install an amp. I am looking to spend $350 or less. I was thinking of a set of component speakers and replacing the thermometer and volt gauges with the tweeters.

I've been reading the audio section of the forum, and holy hell is there a lot of info, but I've yet to come across anyone using tweeters in place of the gauges.

Any info would be highly appreciated!

I've used the tweeters in the place of the gauges. What do you want to know about them?

Gonna need more than 350. Low end 6.5 will run ya 100 for a pair and the bullet style tweeters a little more. You can get a low end amp for right around 100 as well. That's not counting install or other components to let your HU and amp play nice with each other

I was looking at the thread about the JBL 638s last night this got me thinking. Here's the speakers I was looking at.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017LFSXU..._91hTwb077B0ST

I was hoping someone could tell me what speakers will fit in the holes for the gauges without being too big or too small.

I was thinking of a Soundstream 2 channel amp and both the amp and speakers would be much less than $350 but I figure if I needed wiring harnesses or other stuff I would still have the funds for this project
.

Also, I've read a lot about guys having the stealer do a flash upgrade. I have an FLTRX with the HK radio, but not the navigation so would the flash still apply?

Thanks!

You won't need a flash with the 13 head unit. That only applies to bikes with the rushmore head unit (14 and up). If you want some input about the JBL 638s, find @Swomack on this forum. Dude is SUPER helpful and won't steer you wrong. I don't have any experience with those speakers, so can't say much on them, but I know they will fit in the speaker pods with no issues. You will, however, need to buy speaker ring adapters since those are 6.5 inch speaker and the stock is 5.25. Sound Stream is a good amp for those wanting to save money. I'm running one now, and will purchase another this spring when I bump up to an 8 speaker set up. The Picasso Nano is the best bang for the buck lineup they have. You can find those amps on ebay for right around 100 bucks all day. You will need a line out converter so you can connect your stock head unit to the amp (link below). If anyone else has a line out converter that is better than the one I found, feel free to chime in.

SWomack here
The JBL's are a great 3 way loud speaker for sure. Way better IMO then the stock speakers. I am running them on my. 2015 RGS with just the head unit and they sound great. I have included a YouTube video if you want to listen to what they sound like. If you have any other questions just PM me. If you add an amp these JBL's will be even that much better.

Do you need just ONE line out converter, or two, or four? If adding a 4ch amp to an Ultra, do I need one converter to the front speakers and one to the rear? The pic looks like the converter only has two wires. Thanks
