Satellite Radio Question

I have a Sirius Satellite radio module that I had in my old truck with a lifetime subscription on it and was wondering if there is anyway that I can adapt it to fit into my 15 RGS? Definitely not looking to spend the money that HD wants for their module so if I can adapt the one I have to make it work that would be awesome.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Yes, very simple. Use the FM transmitter all you need is to mount the magnetic antenna inside your fairing, on top of the radio works. Only thing you have to deal with is having exposed wires but you could fashion a wire conduit. thats the nice thing about the factory kit, its clean but yes Stoopid expensive!

The module I have actually plugged into the old radio, not ran off of an FM channel. I could then select Sirius on my HU and go through the channels on the HU like normal and not use a Sirius unit to change channels. The module was actually secured up under my dash on the old truck. The antenna plugged into the module and then the module plugged into a jack on the radio. I guess maybe I need to see if the plugs are the same for the Harley HU as my old Clarion HU.

and to hide the wires, I just put my unit in one of the glove boxes and drilled a hole to run all the wires, I can't change stations but everything is hidden away, I bought a unit that taps into the power so I don't have to use the lighter plug

There's no aux audio input on the stock radio. H/D does make a kit though. It's comprised of little more than a multi pin plug wired to a 1/8" male jack. If you can find out how it's pinned out, you could make your own for far less than the $40 that H/D is charging for it.

Yeah I may have to take off my fairing and see what the back looks like. My connector is a round 7 pin I believe that I need to probably modify to work. Guess I need to see how the HD module plugs into the HU and go from there.

On the 15's the satellite module is a pc board that you plug into the back of the radio after removing a cover plate on the radio. I don't think that you can use that location with your current unit.

Damn. So much for that idea. Guess I will have to put it on one of my cages. Thanks all for the replies.

You can use the radio you have. All you need to do is find out which wires on the 7 pin round connector are. you will want to identify power , + power - (or ground) the left and right audio + and the audio - (don't get this mixed up with the power - or ground).

Once you have that information buy the adapter plug from HD which has 3 wires audio right and audio left and audio -. Attach the audio from the radio XM to the appropriate audio on the HD adapter. Find a good 12V power and 12V ground on the bike, attach the power from the XM to this and your almost done.

You will need to have your dealer flash input 3 on the bikes radio to turn it on, they can name it anything you want (say XM) and then you will see XM pop up as an selection on your menu.

I think the HD audio adapter part # is 69200610
