There is a mod that can be done that adds a UBS port to the rear of the stock head unit. But it does not charge and you can't use handlebar controls. Cheapest and most efficient option would be to swap the stock head unit for a Sony DMR receiver with tune-tray. Your ipod goes inside the tray and stays secure as well as charges. The Biketronics RetroRadio kit allows you to use the handlebar controls. Whole swap can be done for under $400 and less than 2 hours of your time. Much cheaper and cleaner than the HD iPod interface.

Isimple cable from iron aces plays and charges an iPod or iPhone. You could do the rear jack mod to plug it in from the back. I just have mine in front.

Great head unit. Just be sure to spend an extra $20 and get the Biktronics splash guard. It is a marine head unit but that does not make it water proof. Got mine wet during a wash and it acted squirrley until it completely dried out.

+1 and it does allow for the use of the hand controls.

You can send your stock hk radio to Iron Cross and they can put a phone charging/audio cable on for $110 I think. I have one on mine and charge my phone in the left glove box and a On the move controler cable in the right glove box. A little over kill on the system but I can charge 2 phones at once, when the ole ladies phone needs some juice too. They can also do lots of stuff to a stock radio and offer a warranty on the radio and there work.
