Subwoofer idea for saddlebag

I've seen the woof pack for the tour pak's,.. but don't want to have to keep my tour pak on all the time if I want some bump. I also don't want to not have any kind of storage loss in the tour pak, as its nice having a lot of room.

I have seen where people have put subwoofers in their saddlebags, but nothing inside, not mounted solid, easy to take in and out. The few I have seen have drilled holes in the inner side of the saddlebag with the speaker facing the rear tire. Bagger concepts supposedly makes a subwoofer for your saddlebag,. but they don't answer emails and I have read a lot of bad stuff about the company.
So it got me wondering about these.

There are a lot of slim profile amplified subwoofers, but I havent seen any that are marine or water proof like this one. Back in highschool I had a friend with a Pyle system and that sucker rocked.

So anyone think this would work? I could run the cables through the side of the saddlebag, and when not in use could plug the hole. Wouldn't take up that much space either.

I have also thought about if it doesn't sound good inside the saddlebag, to mount it underneath the tour pak facing down. (last resort)

Can it be powder coated or painted black?

Seriously, I like the concept and I agree a little thump would be nice.. I'd seriously consider the under the tourpak idea, as that would be the simplest and cost you no storage at all. Would it fit?

I hesitate to even ask what it would cost.......

Nothing a can of krylon can't fix. I think it would fit under the tourpak,. I haven't measured on the bike to know for sure. Cost is cheap,.. I've seen these on ebay for as low as $120

How often do you think you would remove it from the bag...once you are used to the sound, you'd never wanna take it out. Im voting for under the tourpak. Especially since its marine grade. Theres my 2 cents.

Ive seen a few shallow amplified subs out there, but dont know about Marine Grade.I was looking at this one to put under the seat of my truck. Boss Bass 120 Amplified sub. I like your idea of mounting outside and under the tour pak.
i think the tricky thing is getting them to sound good. i dont know anything about stereos, but I think t has to do with the crossover settings etc.

Thats the thing with mounting it out in the fresh air,. I'm pretty sure you won't feel much bass and it would sound like doo doo. From my experience with enclosures, if done right even an 8" subwoofer can sound like a 15" 1000 watt monster. So placing it in the saddlebag, would almost make it like the old bandpass boxes that were popular a while back.

Thanks for the link GR8FLH, I had never seen that before. From the couple of reviews sounds like that one might do the trick. However the watts are really low,.. I kinda like how the pyle uses 600.
