I used the boss kit initially, makes power, doing ultra flex 8ga the first time is a good investment in your time savings.
overall the boss speaker wire and remote wire is crap
the OE converter is between your factory speakers to the amp RCA inputs
if you skip the OE converter you can use a 4 pin molex from a computer power supply to save cutting yours. go direct in. another $2 well spent.
but an OE will potentially be a good thing, add insurance and potentially correct line voltage where needed
4.5v is a solid signal, 2.2v also works well
amp accepts up to 6v input, but starts distorting at around 5.5
some OE converters reportedly hiss, so use your best judgement as to the performance, and quality, I bought one, never used it, then sold it, switched to the sony, first 2v, then 4v, I actually liked the 2v radio better for clarity.
yes, battery, frame, some run ground to battery, usually that means there's a float on the line, or non-negtive ground present at the frame.
I had my ground at front faring mount location with one amp, then moved it to aft fairing mount near neck with 2 amps.
a good remote switch tie in is lighter circuit, should you need one
try hooking the amp up first without one.
